For those of you who donít know who "Scotty Karate" is... He is a local one man band who plays an amazing slurry of honky tonk influenced, punk country songs. His voice is amazing as well as his high energy shows. (Check him out @ www.scottykaratetime.com) So, we decided to make a beer and name it in his honor. This beer is a big, full bodied Scottish ale. It is 9.75% alc. but it is very smooth and balanced. Since Scotty is also very passionate about beer I asked him to write a description for you, so from the man himself... Aroma: Smells like A fresh caramel apple with a hint of cinnamon inside of cranberry shortbread. Or maybe fresh home made hard candy (from home economics class-7th grade). Flavor: Tastes like a smokey chocolate chip cookie, wild roadside cherry-asparagus, woody, crispy leaf on a fall day.

Rated 4/3/13. 12 oz bottle into a pint glass. A: Pours a hazy dark brown color. The head is a one finger offwhite shade with a soft-looking creaminess to it. Retention is decent given the strength, and thereís a bit of lacing left behind, too. S: Big caramel here unsurprisingly. Thereís also an impressive dark fruit note here that I find enticing. Other notes of brown sugar, molasses, and toffee abound. T: Strong tones of caramel, toffee, and brown sugar open the flavor profile up, with light smokiness and plum-like sweetness building up on the finish. The big problem isnít whatís here...itís what isnít here. While most certainly well made, it lacks in interesting qualities that could have made it great; nor is it particularly complex. The alcohol is hidden superbly, though. M: Relatively thick, rich, and sweet on the palate, appropriately for the style. Carbonation is only prevalent when allowed to focus on the tongue. O: Itís pretty good, yeah, but itís missing something - such as the vague stout-like qualities of Old Chub or the drinkable complexity of Dirty Bastard. As such, itís hard to recommend over those two.

12fl bottle. Pours a clear ruby/caramel with a thin ring of a head and nice legs. Aroma has big notes of caramel, brown sugar, and dark fruits. Taste is sweet with caramel, dark fruits, and a bit of alcohol warmth and taste. Medium-full body with a medium carbonation. Smooth texture in the mouth. Almost syrupy but not quite. Overall a nice Scotch ale. Big caramel and dark fruits with a touch of alcohol. Very smooth texture.

Bottle poured a cola brown in color with a thin coating of tan head. Aroma has sweet malt, caramel, and dark sweet fruit. Mouth feel is medium light and the carbonation a bit low. Flavor has a big rich malted side, creeping bitterness, chocolate, dark fruit, and some heat on the finish.

Dark ruby red with small lacing light brown foam ring. Aroma is light caramel, light smokey charcoal, kind of complex. Taste little smokey, with little bitter aftertaste. All is little which makes this a good beer. (Madrid 201406) ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Way too sweet for me. That makes it hard to drink. Thats the main disadvantage. On other hand, itís very complex. Sugary, raisiny, dark-fruity, havy flavours. Very full body. Not my style though.

A very dark brown beer with a medium and yelloiwsh beige head. The nose of dry wood, toffee, sweet and red berries, some chocolate and smoke. Taste with same elements that were in the aroma, some toffee, fresh wood, chocolate, low bitterness, also hint of smoke in the end. Medium bodied, quite smooth and nice to drink. Lots of elements and nothing is bothering but still not very inspirating. The good beer, anyway.
