COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
For those of you who don't know who "Scotty Karate" is... He is a local one man band who plays an amazing slurry of honky tonk influenced, punk country songs. His voice is amazing as well as his high energy shows. (Check him out @ www.scottykarate.com) So, we decided to make a beer and name it in his honor. This beer is a big, full bodied Scottish ale. It is 9.75% alc. but it is very smooth and balanced. Since Scotty is also very passionate about beer I asked him to write a description for you, so from the man himself... Aroma: Smells like A fresh caramel apple with a hint of cinnamon inside of cranberry shortbread. Or maybe fresh home made hard candy (from home economics class-7th grade). Flavor: Tastes like a smokey chocolate chip cookie, wild roadside cherry-asparagus, woody, crispy leaf on a fall day.

This stuff is a lot like a few American Barley wines if had. Flavors of Caramel , and toffee with some peatyness. High in ABV at 9 something and you can taste it! A good Big Malty Beer.

Pours an almost opaque deep brown with glints of ruby highlights passing through to the eye. A dense fairly tall head was produced leaving some spotty lacing as it fades. Aroma is quite malty with nuiances of toffee and candied sugar and a big wiff of booze. Hints of roasted malts too. Taste is pretty complex with candied malts, roasted malts, candied sugar, crusty bread and sutle hints of smoked peet. A medium bodied beer that is pretty smooth. Finishes dry. I was pleasently surprised with this one. A very good beer.

Pours a dark amber with a minimal tan head. Aroma of caramel, raisin, chocolate, apple, and nuts. Taste leans more towards the direction of the nutty first impressions. Chocolate and raisins are easily noticed. Very roasted as well. Everything is balanced very well, and I’m surprised that it is this strong judging on how smooth this is. Not bad, although this isn’t my favorite style.

Deep amber red/brown with no head. Typical scotch ale taste. I'm starting to enjoy these more. I need to have lots more to know how good it is. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12 ounce bottle. Poured cloudy toffee brown. Leathery, malty, toasted malts, toffee, hint of peat smoke. A great Scottish ale. Tons of malt character with a few fruity hot alcohol notes. A nice beer.

UPDATED: MAY 9, 2012 12 ounce bottle into snifter, bottled 8/6/2011. Pours very cloudy dark reddish brown color with a good 1 finger dense khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Some decent spotty lacing on the glass. Aromas of big caramel, molasses, apple, toasted biscuit, peat, leather, raisin, toffee, light chocolate, and spices. Very nice and complex aromas with great balance and strength. Taste of caramel, molasses, smoke, toasted biscuit, toffee, apple, raisin, wood, light chocolate, earth, and spices. Light spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, toffee, biscuit, smoke, molasses, and wood on the finish for a good bit. Great flavor balance with a good amount of robustness; and absolutely no cloying sweetness. Light-medium carbonation and fairly full bodied; with a very creamy, lush, and slick mouthfeel. Alcohol is insanely well hidden for being almost 10%, with only a small warming well after the finish. Extremely smooth to sip on for such a big beer; drinks much smoother than some lower gravity beers. Overall this is a fantastic scotch ale! Great balance of flavors with good complexity; and extremely smooth.

Poured from a chilled 12 ounce bottle into a miniature snifter. Aroma is earthy, woody, figgy, and of course, malty. Roasty qualities abound. In the taste, I can really get a nice fig and raisin profile. Mildly smoky, but I’m thinking that burn is more associated with the alcohol content.

Pours a dark red amber with a thin off white head. The aroma is apples, fresh bread, caramel, and some hay. The taste is malty with notes of caramel, milk chocolate, burnt toast, and wood. Not my favorite style, but this is pretty good.

Fantastic scotch ale... Best I have ever had. Peat and smokiness, and hides alcohol well.

Medium brown color. Thin head with some lacing. Lite smoked peat and rich carmal flavor. With a well balanced hop finish. Definitely go back for more.
