3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Very good IIPA. I dig it. Here is what Superspak has to say on the agreed upon 3.9:
"12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 4/24/2014. Pours lightly hazy deep orange amber color with a 1-2 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice soapy lacing clings around my mouth like sticky cum shot out of Sanchez the donkey from my old shows in Mexico. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, lemon peel, orange rind, pine, floral, grass, caramel, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Very nice aromas with bright citrus/grassy hops and moderate malt balance; with great strength of Oden’s cock. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, lemon peel, orange rind, floral, grass, pine, caramel, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Moderate amount of floral/pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon peel, orange rind, floral, grass, pine, caramel, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity and robustness of juicy citrus/grassy hops and moderate malt sweetness; with a good malt/bitterness balance and no cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a fairly creamy, smooth, and lightly sticky mouthfeel that is a good sticky like after gay sex, not like after roasting marshmallows. Alcohol is well hidden with only a slight warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very good DIPA. Good balance, complexity, and robustness of citrus/grassy hops and moderate malt sweetness; and very smooth to sip on, like goat blood during a sacrificial offering. A very enjoyable offering to the dark prince and my personal saviour, Satan."
Just for CYA, I do not endorse anything Superspak has to say, I just quote it.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tap at Red Ox, Rochester, Michigan. Pour into a shaker. Dark copper, lacing of white head. Aroma is caramel malt, slightly German malt, dank hops. Flavor is sweet malts, caramel, dank hops, bread, slightly dark fruit, lemon peel, and hops. Honestly not as dank as I expected. I feel like this would be better with proper glassware. I stand but this score, but my gut tells me I need to revisit this in a teku or IPA glass.

Tap at sorbon
Eastcoast imperial IPA with heavy bitterness and less fruityness. Intresting, no what you expect from imperial IPA.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap at The Buck. Pours copper with a nice beige head and a strange aroma that does smell a little like weed, but with some toffee. There is a hearty caramel malt base with a very bitter hop finish. Overall pretty tasty.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Cloudy burnt orange pour with a one finger, creamy to soapy of white head that has great retention and leaves decent lacing. Aroma is big on caramel and fruity and bready yeast, some dark toffee, light booziness and grapefruit, herbal and light dank hops, though it reminds me more of seedy weed than buds. Flavor is dense caramel, toffee and bready malt, doughy, lightly fruity and peppery yeast notes and herbal, citrus peel, sweet pine and light dank hops. Medium to heavy body, creamy, slightly syrupy and slightly chalky feel, light to medium carbonation and drier, still chalky finish. Pretty good overall, bit not really overly "dank" in nature.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Nice deep copper and light bronze body with a brown glow and a thick, three centimetre tall deep copper head. Aroma of malt, alcohol, resin, pine, caramel and a touch of toast and light rye grain. Medium-bodied; Assertive rye and oatmeal flavours with a good pine and tropical fruit hoppiness and a smooth honey and syrup sweetness on the finish. Aftertaste shows a lot of hops with some alcohol coming through and a good balance of malt. Overall, a nice beer with less hops than I was expecting, and more malt - especially the style of malt. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Total Wine in Alexandria, Virginia on 17-May-2015 for US$11,49/six pack, sampled at home in Washington a few hours before leaving to go back home to Detroit and grab more beer from the great state of Michigan on 23-July-2015.
