An extremely hoppy ale, that really does smell like weed.

UPDATED: MAR 27, 2014 Tap: Also known as "Smells Like Weed IPA". Almost fully opaque copper body, no head, only a beige collar, probably from the pour. Aroma of pines, some dank resins... Sticky icky. I’ve actually had many other beers that smelled more like weed than this. But it’s got some moderate dank. Caramel malt abound, too. Taste is pine, grapefruit peel, slight hemp oil, touch of peppery florals, some back end toffee malt sweetness. Moderately bitter, medium body with low carbonation. Sticky a little, resinous.

draft at Blue Monk, Buffalo NY. decent IIPA, aroma did not meet expectations of name but flavor was pretty solid. citrusy & pine hop flavors, malty backbone.

Bottle from mtomlins. Dark amber with a dark tan head. Slightly dank and resiny hop profile, light citrus and a caramel malt backbone, some marijuana. Moderate carbonation, mild body that seems a little watery, bitter, dry, slightly astringent.

Pours hazy, dark golden, slight thin head, decent lacing. Aroma floral, tropical, melon and blueberry, bready and slightly caramel malt in the background. Taste bitter floral up front, melon, tropical and blueberry, bready malt just evident, but enough to provide some balance, clean yeast profile. Mouthfeel medium-full body, lower carbonation, bitter hop and slight alcohol bite, dry finish. Overall very tasty well made beer, never got the blueberry flavor before in a beer, it’s interesting, I would drink more of this.

Fine beer, but a bit fruity and sour to my taste for an ipa. Would definitely drink, preferably with potatoes, but unfavorable compared with other options.

12 oz bottle. Pours deep amber with an off-white head and many fine particles. Smells like citrus moving on to pine, yeah, maybe a little weed. Flavor’s got the pine and citrus, some herbal hops and biscuit. A pretty tasty IPA, though I must say I wouldn’t have guessed it was 8.5%.

Bottle pour. Copper colored with a thin white foamy head. This is an enjoyable IPA, which has a pronounced resiny nose and flavor profile. Hoppy with a malt sweetness. Boozy at 8.5%, glad this comes in a 12oz as a larger bottle would be difficult to take down. Big bitterness on the back end. Tropical notes are muted. This is deep and down.

Fresh bottle.
First off, it does not small like weed. It smells like pine sap and rubbing alcohol mixed with Mr. Clean.
It pours a hazed dark amber - totally the wrong color for a next level imperial IPA. My suspicion is that it is going to be boozy and way too malt forward. Taste is hot, bitter and semi sweet. Flavors of rubbing alcohol, Tylenol and pine sap. Yack. Ungodly sweet, way too malt forward, totally shitty hop profile and under attenuated. This is fucking garbage on a whole new level. Like a very poorly executed version of Evil Twin’s Molotov Cocktail.
Someone please stop dark horse from making anything except plead the fifth.

Pours clear amber with some off white head. Nose is citrus, fruits, and spicy centennial hops. This one drinks really fruity and spicy as well. Pretty well done with the balance of fruit and the load of caramel malts that are in there.

Pour from a 12oz bottle. Reddish amber brew with pale head. Aroma of caramel, resin, earth, some citrus. Taste is sweet malt at the start, resin, a little earth, a few fruity tones at the end. Rock solid IPA but not doing anything new.

Amber, with copper undertone, dense lacing. Full body, silky texture, intense and delicious flavor, lingering palate, all that a beer needs to be great. Hides 9%abv perfectly, not much heat. Very bitter but amply balanced by malt, little but not lacking acidity. Grapefruit. Intense and delicious. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
