An extremely hoppy ale, that really does smell like weed.

Draught@SBWF2012. Golden colour, small head. Aroma is grass, herbs, toffee and some mild earthy and grainy notes. Flavour is herbal, fruity, mild yeastyness as well as some sweet malts and quite big bitterness in the finish. Yet quite thin and a bit uninspiring.

Draught at Beer Tempel, Amsterdam
Hazy amber color with creamy head. Fruity hop aroma with some caramel, a bit cheesy. Smooth mouthfeel; nice malt and toffee flavor, green tea, light bergamot, citrusy, dryish, later earthy and showing a moderate sweetness.
Good balance and freshness.

Draft sample at MBGF Summer 2009. Poured hazy copper color with an average frothy off-white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate to heavy sour citrus hop, leaves and small malt aroma. Medium body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy bittersweet flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. My expectations where met with a complex beer.

Tap (SBWF2012)
Typical super-sweet sticky US IPA aroma. Biscuity malts, but no weed detected, sorry. Smooth palate, gentle carbonation. Good biscuity malts in the taste too, typical for a strong US IPA, but done well. Drinkability quite high, wasn’t saying 9%. All the acohol was covered by the residial sugars, and pleasantly the sugars themselves weren’t as annoying as they sometimes are. All-in-all, a strong US-style IPA done right - I like this brewery!

Tap @ Dark Horse. Slightly darkish orange with a cream colored head. Mild weed, moderate piney, fairly citrusy hoppy aroma. Orange creamy, grapefruit, piney citrusy hoppy flavor with a citrusy finish. I enjoyed the Crooked Tree a little better.

MiBG Summer Fest 2009, Friday Session: First off, a disclaimer... this does not "smell like weed" unless of course your weed has a fruity and citric character. It simply smells like a PNW IPA and hey that ain’t so bad. Anyway on to the rating: Coppery hue with a small head but very good lace. The aroma has noted above is quite fruity with mango and grapefruit esters, piney and herbal hops, biscuity malts and a hint of ground black pepper. The taste is fruity and acidic at first before becoming slightly balance by the pale and slightly caramelized malts. The finish is piney and a tad metallic. The mouth feel is lively, aggressive and yet still quite refreshing. Overall a damn nice DIPA, Mikey Likey... more "herbal" on the palate than the nose.

On tap at MBG Summer Festival. Poured orangish amber with a white head. Aroma consisted of typical hop aroma of pine and a bit of citrus. I was a bit disappointed as I have smelled other IPA’s that smell more like weed. Flavor was bitter with a piney undertone. A pretty basic IPA.
