A richly malty ale, with clear characteristics of dark chocolate and black malt, and hints of black licorice, ale fruitiness, and molasses in the finish.

Bottle from samís. pours medium mohageny brown with a thin an head. Nose is sweet, sugary brownie, light roast. Flavor is similar; overly sweet cocoa, vanilla, sweetness, not ebought roast. Surprising for this brewery which is usually proficient with darker roastier styles.

12 oz. bottle gift from Phatdog1. Real dark hazy brown. Nose is chocolate, nutty and coffee. No surprise in the flavors, same as the nose. Very soft carbonation and creamy texture. This porter is decent, standard yet tasty. No grievances, well worth a try.

From bottle, itís pitch black with light brown head leaving a website of lacing. Chocolate and caramel and a hint of molasses. Great body, very smooth, medium to heavy body for the style. Some licorice, dark chocolate flavors and some bittering hops. Great Porter.

12oz bottle poured into glass. Pitch black and somewhat oily. Nice subtle hints of chocolate malts and slight coffee vanilla. Nothing super out of control but a decent beer none the less.

Goot schtuf! Served at a good temperature with modest head that soon settles to a light cover that lasts forever and good lacing. Color is an opaque black brown. Aroma is malt, roast, dark ripe fruit, molasses, cocoa. Flavorís like nose with all the above characteristics amplified plus the integration of sweet, carbonic tang, and bitter. Body is good but carbonation seems a little light. Finish is like flavor, longish, and a touch boozy.

emacgee (4053) - Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA - MAR 12, 2013
Light and clean burnt brown pour with a noticeable body and copper edges. One to two fingers of tight mocha tan head. Nose has an unexpected richness, very light roast with some toasted bread, very subtle drip coffee character, some cacao. Nice dark grain presence in the flavor, rich but subtle flavors, bitter chocolate. Not incredibly complex on the flavor but delivers what it does very well. Medium to full bodied with some acidity and bitter roast.

durhambeer (2500) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - MAR 10, 2013
Bottle from Samís Quik Shop in Durham. Pours nearly black with a disappointing tan head. Nose of roast chocolate, coffee and roasty malt notes. Some hints at licorice. Taste is more roasty, sweet. Finishes thin and wet where a bit of bitter and dry might be nice.

Nice aroma from a bottle, smooth rich olfactory impressions. First taste is strong porter fer sure, Iím thinking Iím in the range of baltic. However, it does have a smoothness not found in many baltic porters. Some hints of choco but not much. Finish is a little medicinal and slightly mouth coating. Thar, yah haff it.
