Bottle. Poured a dark brown with minimal brownish head. Aroma was burnt malt with perhaps a touch of chocolate. Flavor included a little bit of hops and was just slightly bitter. Pretty good overall.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 bluejacket74 (992) - Reynoldsburg, Ohio, USA - JAN 12, 2013
12 ounce bottle. Served in a pint glass, the beer pours dark brown/black with about a half inch tan head. Head retention and lacing are both decent enough. Aroma is nice and sweet, the brew smells like roasted malt, chocolate, coffee and a bit of dark fruit. It tastes like roasted malt, bittersweet chocolate, coffee, and some licorice. The aroma is sweet, but the bitter roastiness really shows up in the taste of this brew. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it’s a bit creamy and has moderate carbonation. I think this is a good brew, I’d definitely like to try it again sometime.

12oz bottle. Dark brown color. good thin brown head. Some decent lace. Good bitter chocolatey flavor. Light toasted malts, hints of dark fruit. Medium / bigger body, with a good chewiness to the texture. Light, crisp carbonation. Good bittersweet taste. One of the worst labels I’ve ever seen, but the porter inside is solid, as I’ve come to expect from Dark Horse.

Big roasted aroma to start this off, with hints of chocolate. Pours an opaque black with just a ring of light brown head. Smooth roasted flavor, with chocolate being the predominant flavor. Light bodied, and easy to drink. If you like porters, this is one to try.
