12 oz bottle into a pint glass. A: Pours a dark cola color. About one fingers of creamy mocha-colored head is formed with a creamy texture and mediocre retention. Good lacing is left on the glass, at least. S: There’s a definite vibe of stewed dark fruits. I also note chocolate (a good deal), brown sugar, and licorice. Definitely serviceable as far as the style goes; too bad my dislike towards licorice pulls the score down somewhat. T: Yeah. It’s definitely heavy on both dark fruits and licorice, especially on the opening. A definite roasted barley note creeps in on the back end, to pair with the crisp, dry finish. This doesn’t excite me too much, plus its single-dimensional flavors don’t help. M: This is very light for a 7% porter. Combined with the crisp, clean finish, the drinkability is excellent. The crispness is replaced with a bit of sweetness after a few sips, but this could still be chugged regardless. A bit undercarbonated, too. O: Any beer that I can pick up a lot of licorice flavors in is likely to get a big fat ’meh’ from me - the only reason this doesn’t is because of how damn drinkable it is. Even still, I wouldn’t seek this one out in the future.

Black beer with a dark brown fizzy and medium head that mostly lasts. Aroma is strong liquorice, very roasted malt, chocolate and maybe lactose notes. Flavor is heavy sweet and bitter, very balanced with a medium to high carbonation. Body is thick and oily. End is very long, predominantly bitter.

On tap, poured into a shaker. The beer is a dark, nearly opaque cola color with a soft foam, off-white head with a moderate retention, and only a touch of lace. The aroma is roasted grains and chocolate with a light licorice note in the background. The taste is a medium sweetness with a medium-light bitterness. The beer is syrupy with a creamy fizz carbonation and a medium full body flavored with lots of chocolate and roasted grain that finishes with a clean licorice spiciness and some light notes of dark fruits. The aftertaste is a licorice cleanliness with coffee and bread notes.

Bottle to glass, large rocky light brown head that diminished slowly, not much lacing, tawny cola color.A light malt aroma with a burnt note. This porter is rather light in body, thin and slick. The moderate sweet flavor with bitter finish was short lived. Really not much of a porter.

Botella. Color negro opaco. Espuma beige jabonosa.

Bottle: Dark brown body with a foamy khaki head that fades very quickly to a measly collar. Aroma has notes of semisweet chocolate, molasses, & roasted malt. Very light undercurrent of prune, steak sauce, & faint soy. Not bad, but different. Flavor is decisively more roasty with a strong malt body. Faint charcoal, bitter cocoa dust, mild anise, & a hint of coffee bean. Slight coffee bean, & some prune skin towards the finish that adds a light acrid hint of astringency. Thin-medium mouth feel. Decent.

Aroma: Espresso notes, raisins, dark cacao. Appearance: Almost oily black with a foamy tan head that settles into a skin. Flavor: Roast-centric, not a whole lot of chocolate; some citrusy notes buried underneath (something akin to Centennial); espresso finish. Palate: Full bodied, creamy texture, flat carbonation, abrupt finish. Overall: A satisfying enough porter; fairly pleasing on all levels.
