A richly malty ale, with clear characteristics of dark chocolate and black malt, and hints of black licorice, ale fruitiness, and molasses in the finish.

12 oz bottle into a pint glass. A: Pours a dark cola color. About one fingers of creamy mocha-colored head is formed with a creamy texture and mediocre retention. Good lacing is left on the glass, at least. S: There’s a definite vibe of stewed dark fruits. I also note chocolate (a good deal), brown sugar, and licorice. Definitely serviceable as far as the style goes; too bad my dislike towards licorice pulls the score down somewhat. T: Yeah. It’s definitely heavy on both dark fruits and licorice, especially on the opening. A definite roasted barley note creeps in on the back end, to pair with the crisp, dry finish. This doesn’t excite me too much, plus its single-dimensional flavors don’t help. M: This is very light for a 7% porter. Combined with the crisp, clean finish, the drinkability is excellent. The crispness is replaced with a bit of sweetness after a few sips, but this could still be chugged regardless. A bit undercarbonated, too. O: Any beer that I can pick up a lot of licorice flavors in is likely to get a big fat ’meh’ from me - the only reason this doesn’t is because of how damn drinkable it is. Even still, I wouldn’t seek this one out in the future.

Draft at FOB, in Rimini, Italy. Black color, nice fluffy foam cappuccino -color. Aroma reminds of chocolate mostly, with nice intensity. Taste has moderate bitterness and some sweetness, with licorice and some chocolate. Nice dryness. An interesting beer, but maybe a little exaggerated as a porter.

Bottle at home. Dark brown colour, fast dissipating lightbrown head. Nose is chocholate and molasses with light booze. Taste is low sweetness medium bitterness. Cocoa, earth and molasses in the aftertaste with a hint of coffee. Nice, and a lot boozier nose in the nose than in the taste.

From bottle. Very dark poor with one finger beige head. Not much aroma. What I do get is roast and strong chocolate. Pretty decent flavor. Bitter finish for a porter. Nice ABV. Another well done brew by DH.
