4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
12 oz. bottle. Pours an oily black with a thin creamy tan ring. The aroma entices with roasted malts, sweet chocolate, molasses, and some dark fruits. The flavor is heavy on the roasted character with some coffee and chocolate in there as well. The mouthfeel is perfect for the style; medium/full bodied and creamy smooth. Another fine offering from Dark Horse.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a very dark, almost black, brown, with a very thin, dark brown head. Nose warms to roasty chocolate aromas. Flavors are roast, chocolate and coffee, dominated by the roast. Mouthfeel is medium, with fairly long lasting roast notes. A good, if not spectacular stout.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours an oil black brew with a thin brown head. The aroma is sweet, molasses, coffee is a big element, dark chocolates, brown sugar. The flavor is pretty big on coffee, dark roast, light alcohol, a bittering hop presence at the back of the mouth. Molasses and brown sugars. Nice smooth palate. Excellent stout.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
The color was dark chocolate black. The head was very thin, dark tan, and creamy. The aroma was very strong coffee, roast, sweet malt, chocolate, molasses, and vanilla. The flavor was roasty, coffee, hops, a waxy/bitterness at the back of the mouth, and some molasses. The flavor was not as complex as I would have like, but still good. The palate was fairly carbonated and lively. The finish was a waxyness.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
12oz bottle. Pour is black but a little thin looking. Head is very faint, tan swirls here and there with a thin ring of tan cream. Aroma is coffee roast, liquorish, and dark chocolate. Pretty nice. The flavor is initially sweeter and smooth; chocolaty. The roast and coffee notes appear in the finish. The aftertaste is milky - the lactose. The body is pretty smooth, but a little on the thin side. I guess that is the difference between using oats for sweetness and using lactose. I have to say I enjoy the body produced by using oats, but this lactose flavor is very nice.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
(Bottle via trade with <A HREF=http://www.ratebeer.com/ViewUser.asp?UserID=3 target=blank>EithCubes, thanks Mike!) Some hiccups with this one...Pours very dark brown, like thick black coffee. Very little head. Rich, sweetish coffee/chocolate aroma. Mouthfeel fairly smooth and thick. Low carbonation. Became rather flat so palate was rather syrupy by the end. Flavor is coffee roast and dark chocolate with grassiness riding in on finish and aftertaste. More bitterness than One. First stumble Iíve had from Dark Horse.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Solid black, just the slightest hint of a reddish-tan head. Aroma is of milk chocolate, roasted malts and coffee. Creamy mouthfeel. Average carbonation, medium bodied. Flavor is milk chocolately and smooth. Finish is quick, slightly bitter. Just the right amount of sweetness. Absolutely no detectable alcohol. Great brew.
