(Bottle via trade with <A HREF=http://www.ratebeer.com/ViewUser.asp?UserID=3 target=blank>EithCubes, thanks Mike!) Some hiccups with this one...Pours very dark brown, like thick black coffee. Very little head. Rich, sweetish coffee/chocolate aroma. Mouthfeel fairly smooth and thick. Low carbonation. Became rather flat so palate was rather syrupy by the end. Flavor is coffee roast and dark chocolate with grassiness riding in on finish and aftertaste. More bitterness than One. First stumble Iíve had from Dark Horse.

Pours Black with a fine, tan head. Aroma is roasty with chocolate overtones. Some coffee aroma in there as well. Mouthfeel is good and heavy with a roasted, coffee, chocolate flavor. Some molasses in there as well. Very good!

Hangover (1088) - Atlanta, Alabama, USA - SEP 28, 2007
Solid black, just the slightest hint of a reddish-tan head. Aroma is of milk chocolate, roasted malts and coffee. Creamy mouthfeel. Average carbonation, medium bodied. Flavor is milk chocolately and smooth. Finish is quick, slightly bitter. Just the right amount of sweetness. Absolutely no detectable alcohol. Great brew.

12oz bottle. pours black with creamy tan head that didnít last that long. nose is very roasty. flavor is rich w/ roasted malts, cream, and nutty and chocolaty finish. mouth feel is right on - very creamy but not too thick or chewy. wow, really nothing to knock this beer for, just well done on all levels.

Bottle. Lots of milk chocolate on the nose. Like Nesquik with alcohol. Malted milk chocolate ice cream. Pours almost opaque black with a tiny reddish/khaki head. Fairly dry on the palate. Definite creamy/chocolate lactose flavor. Some earthy hops begin to show after warming. Very rich and creamy on the palate.

Bottle. Pour is solidly black and thick looking, too. Head is fairly small and orangish brown. Aromas are of molasses, espresso, prunes and black licorice. Alcohol is faintly present in the nose. Flavor is fairly spicy... I mean in addition to all of the junk you would expect from a sweet stout. The licorice flavoring came out much stronger than in earlier samples Iíve had of this. I donít know if it is because I finally got around to rating the sixth bottle out of a six pack and it had been in the fridge for a while, or whether it was something I hadnít detected before... Eitehr way, it adds a nice little bit of complexity to the brew that is rather particular.

A nice, if not average sweet stout. Pour was a nice dark brown with a healthy 2 finger tan head. Aroma of oats and coffee. Taste of bitter coffee with a flaky sweetness and a semi thick mouthfeel. The carbonation is average and the finish is a little watery. This is a decent sweet stout.

iowaherkeye (2698) - Ocean Beach, San Diego, California, USA - JUL 25, 2007
12oz, no date. Black with one of the darkest mahogany heads Iíve ever seen--1/2 finger and fades to a ring before too long. Aroma of milk chocolate, roasted malts and grain, a bit of ash and vanilla. I also got a hint of leafy herbal hops--overall fairly sweet. Flavor is much more roasty and ashy than anticipated, though after a few more swallows the lactose makes itself a little more apparent. Still pretty roasty with a dry ashy finish, low bitterness. 8% ABV?!?! This tasted nowhere near that. Medium body with very little carbonation. A very solid sweet stout.

12 oz bottle: poured pitch black with zero head even after an aggressive pour. Very little carbonation. Aroma is of roasted malts and chocolate. Flavor is of roasted malts with a mild bitterness. Slightly sweet, not as dry as I thought. A bit of chocolate and some coffee. Full bodied. Good but whereís the carbonation?
