Number Too - This beer is made with milk sugar (lactose) which gives this beer a nice creamy mouth feel which mingles with hints of chocolate and roasty flavors.

Bottle. Sweet roast aroma with chocolate (but less than One). Light coffee. Opaque oil black body with a light brown head. Roast and chocolate, smooth body but a little lacking compared to their Oatmeal. Sweet and dry roast duke it out; sweet wins. Medium body lacks assertiveness. Aftertaste does have a little lactose, medium malt with very light hops in the back. Alcohol is not at all noticeable, very well integrated, but much less robustness and body than this brewer is capable of offering.

Pours a jet black with a small tan brownish tan head. Aroma of milk chocolate, cocoa and a hint of roasted malts. Taste is of slightly sweetened milk chocolate, baking chocolate, cocoa and smoked malt. Nice dry finish. Excellent.

UPDATED: OCT 23, 2007 12 oz bottle thanks to a trade with demitriustown. Pours an oily black with a brown filmy head. The nose is mostly molasses and burnt coffee with a little cherries and berries. Sticky palate molasses, chocolate, tobacco, brown sugar, and a little burnt with a nice bitterness in the finish. A nice stout from dark horse.

really good for a cream stout. pours a dark rouge black color with a red head that quickly disappears. sweat milk chcolate, juniper berries, fruit tannins and cherry play on the nose and tongue. hits the tip of the tongue heavy but quickly fades.

12 oz bottle via trade, but with whom I am unsure. Pours black with a reddish brown head. The aroma is big with creamy goodness in it. The taste is light sweet and crreamy. It is certainly good, great, not so sure, but very good.

Bottle. Dark brown head on a black body - good lookin’ stuff! Roasty malt aroma with a detectable lactose sweetness - standard (but appealing) stuff for a sweet stout. Classic sweet stout flavors - chocolaty roast, some dark berry, lactose sweetness with just a hint of hop bitterness in the finish. Smooth, velvety mouthfeel. Nothing wrong with a good sweet stout!

tap at the brewpub - Pours black with a medium sized tan head. It has a light roast malt aroma. The flavor is a very nice darkly roasted/toasted malt with good mild hops balance and some chocolate notes. This brew is full bodied and feels lightly carbonated on the palate, which I like. I wouldn’t have guessed that this one had 8% abv.

A solid sweet stout — sugary and roasty, velvet mouthfeel. Poured black with a thin, dark tan head that quickly disappeared. Nose filled with roasted malts, bitter chocolate, coffee. Flavor is sweet with a roast bitterness in the finish that lingers. Medium to full bodied. Creamy texture. Minimal carbonation. Lasting finish. Enjoyable.

Thanks to sliffy for this one via Mystery Swap 2.0. I liked this one a tad more than the One, but they are both world class stouts. The pour here is jet black with tan head. Aroma of big roasty, oaty dark malt, dark chocolate syrup, molasses. Tastes roasty dark malty, oaty, with a solid dark chocolate element, plus mild coffee notes, slight nuts. Rich palate, albeit a tiny bit dry for this style. This one is outstanding.

UPDATED: DEC 19, 2012 12 oz bottle courtesy of MI2CA. Poured into a small tulip glass with small brown head. Again the blackest color. Aroma is soft roastiness, emphasis on soft. I get lactose but more like spoiled cider and a prune juice aspect. Mouthfeel is undercarbonated which adds to the prune juice similarity. Taste is just slightly spoiled milk, weird fruitiness (did I say prune enough), and finishes with slight coffee bitterness, which stays for the aftertaste. The hinting coffee leaves me wanting more, the undercarbonation is not too desirable and this beer is my first disappointment of the 4 stout beers (maybe my expectations were too high).

I am thinking the original rating was an off bottle. Bought this at a store in North Chicago. Poured completely black with a dark brown, large head. Still looks good. The bottom line on this beer is its all bitter malt, not a sweet stout at all. I feel like I am smelling burning stove and drinking bitter black patent husk. Too one dimensional. Alcohol well hidden.
