UPDATED: AUG 6, 2007 slightly chocolate, slightly coffee aroma. Aroma was robust. Poured black, and I mean black! Head was small, brown and disappeared quickly leaving a very thin cap the rest of the way. Head was creamy. Left nice lacing. Flavor, started slightly sweet, then the chocolate, caramel and coffee took over in a beautifully balanced flavor that became very slightly bitter in a pleasant way. Body is medium, texture is very creamy and smooth, very soft carbonation. Finish was a pleasantly long. What a great beer!!! I will definitely add this to my favorite rotation of beer. A excellent beer by Dark Horse!!! If you like your beer, black as night, creamy with a nice balance of Malt, Chocolate and Coffee this is a beer for you!

I don’t care, until I have somthing better, this and the rest of the Dark Horse stouts are some of the best beers I have had. They are not hyped like crazy and cost $7 a 4-pack. YUM!

Jet black brew with a thin toast colored head. Taste is sweet with a bit of vanilla and a mild toast-like aftertaste. The decently high alcohol content doesn’t really show up too much. This is the kind of beer I could just drink for a week straight. Might be time to use some vacation days up....

Pours very dark with no head and no carbonation. The alcohol is well hidden which is good. The other flavors come out in the mouthfeel. This beer coats your palate and hints of smokiness come out in the aftertaste. Swirling this beer creates no lacing, this beer is straight blackness. This is my favorite beer so far.

Depp, dark, rich, a perfect Stout. Not just a Cream Stout, nor just a Sweet Stout, but a top notch all-around Stout of Stouts.

I was skeptical with the whole Dark Horse stout series thing but as an avid stout fan, I dove in head first glad I did! This is the second in the "stout series" and maybe the best. Excellent mouthfeel, strong flavor and aroma. Loved it all around.

Delightfully well made milk stout with a big lactose taste. Creamy on the tongue, notes of roast, chocolate, resin, and coffee on your nose. A little bit of malt balances this one out.

Black pour with incredibly dark brown head. Aroma and taste is smoky coffee dark chocolate and vanilla. Very nice. Try it warm with bacon. Or don’t. It really is not bad with bacon, but warmed is not good. Ok, third edit, This is a great beer. Don’t drink 3-4 good beers reading Game of Thrones, and assume that good beer can be spiced and warmed to make something special. Maybe there is a beer that is good hot, but I am in my mid 40s and need to work in tbe morning. I am too old to experiment with warming and spicing beers. Maybe I am to young? Come to think of it, it is the old guys drinking it in GOT.

Very motor oil looking beer with nice dark brown head. Smells like chocolate and espresso. Very bitter/sweet smelling. Awesome so far. Nice bitter flavor. Malty and burnt. Smokey oily taste and mouthfeel. Very nice beer.
