SturmWulf (59), USA Jul 22, 2007 Updated: Aug 6, 2007slightly chocolate, slightly coffee aroma. Aroma was robust. Poured black, and I mean black! Head was small, brown and disappeared quickly leaving a very thin cap the rest of the way. Head was creamy. Left nice lacing. Flavor, started slightly sweet, then the chocolate, caramel and coffee took over in a beautifully balanced flavor that became very slightly bitter in a pleasant way. Body is medium, texture is very creamy and smooth, very soft carbonation. Finish was a pleasantly long. What a great beer!!! I will definitely add this to my favorite rotation of beer. A excellent beer by Dark Horse!!! If you like your beer, black as night, creamy with a nice balance of Malt, Chocolate and Coffee this is a beer for you! CP (124), USA Feb 1, 2008 Pours very dark with no head and no carbonation. The alcohol is well hidden which is good. The other flavors come out in the mouthfeel. This beer coats your palate and hints of smokiness come out in the aftertaste. Swirling this beer creates no lacing, this beer is straight blackness. This is my favorite beer so far. DocLock (3958), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 6, 2007 Thanks to sliffy for this one via Mystery Swap 2.0. I liked this one a tad more than the One, but they are both world class stouts. The pour here is jet black with tan head. Aroma of big roasty, oaty dark malt, dark chocolate syrup, molasses. Tastes roasty dark malty, oaty, with a solid dark chocolate element, plus mild coffee notes, slight nuts. Rich palate, albeit a tiny bit dry for this style. This one is outstanding. Monger (436), Roscoe, Illinois, USA Feb 3, 2007 Bottle. Pours a pitch black color with a small tan head. Aroma of roasted coffee beans, semi sweet chocolate and smokey. Has a bit of a woody, oak aged flavor to it. This is a very smooth cream stout that finishes slightly dry and with a hint of fermented fruit in the aftertaste. This is a very nice, complex Cream Stout that can hold it’s on with any out there. thehoff (518), Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA Jan 3, 2004 Very motor oil looking beer with nice dark brown head. Smells like chocolate and espresso. Very bitter/sweet smelling. Awesome so far. Nice bitter flavor. Malty and burnt. Smokey oily taste and mouthfeel. Very nice beer.
