3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: DEC 5, 2013 Dark black color with no head and no lacing, just a thick viscous oily deposit sitting in the glass- soon to be my stomach. Aroma seems fainter, but all cocoa coffee malts. Flavor again, malt forward, slight bitterness, vanilla. Very smooth and sweet
2/13/13: (6)(3)(6)(4)(1 black color with small brown head and light oily lacing. Aroma and flavor are packed with nice roasty cocoa with a strong bitter finish. Bottle lists abv at 7.5% which I can’t taste a bit.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Strong roasted coffee and chocolate aromas; a bit of smoke. Some generalized bitterness.
Color is very dark brown, nearly black. Very slight tan head.
Somewhat sweet taste; coffee bitterness taste.
Body is full; texture is creamy; carbonation average; finish is long and bitter, and a bit sweet, starts with coffee then moves on to chocolate.
Overall a good stout; I like the smoky roasted coffee and chocolate with a bit of sweets.

Pretty good beer. A lot of roasted chocolate getting trough, and the mouthfeel is great. But for me it misses a small boost for sure. Needs something (subtile) extra.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
355 mL bottle. Pours just about as close to black as a beer can get. Medium dark brown head. Lots of roast in the nose, along with some semi-sweet cocoa, and maybe a little brown sugar. The flavour is sweet chocolate, milk up front, followed by roast, and then a little bitterness. Lingers nicely. Good body. Solid brew.
