Burnt chocolate, porridge, and cereal make up the malts, with blueberry, bubblegum, and salt water taffy making up the rest of the crew. Favorite of the special stout series. lb4lb (2011), Austin, Texas, USA

Pours dark, oily black with a medium sized nice and dark brown head. Smell definitely has some blueberry as well as some rich chocolately, slightly sweet, creamy roastiness.
Taste is dark roasty and blueberries as advertised. Very drinkable, and chocolately. Much like dark chocolate covered dried blueberries. Really nice. Slightly sweet, but not overly so. This is a fantastic stout and my favorite Dark Horse beer so far. mreusch (748), Olathe, Kansas, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 28, 2008 12oz. bottle with thanks to tytoanderso for this great bonus! Pours thick and solid black, with a sizable three finger dark brown fluffy head that slowly dissipates, very little lacing. Aroma of blueberry bursts out on the pour, and then subsides to let more roasty malts, chocolate, and coffee come out, but every swirl of the glass brings that pleasant blueberry back on strong. Flavor includes glimpses of dried blueberry, with more roasty chocolate, coffee, and a slight drying bitterness. Another good one from DH; thanks again Tyler! hophead75 (1964), Boonton, New Jersey, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 26, 2008 Thanks to Schroppy for this one. Black pour with a small light brown head. Aroma: alot of blueberry, chocolate, and roast. Taste is quite a bit of blueberry, but balanced nicely by dry chocolate, roast and a light to medium caramel malt backbone. Nice, in that the blueberry is definitely assertive but it is not over the top. Didn’t taste too artificial either. Finishes with lingering blueberry and lightly bitter roast, with a light hop bitterness. Very nice. Thanks Mike! LeMunche (66), Orland Park, Illinois, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Mar 25, 2008 Lots of flavor for a dry stout. I’m really starting to enjoy a little bit of sour in some of my stouts. Gotta love the value of dark horse beers. ChainGangGuy (2619), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 24, 2008 Appearance: Pours a plain, unassuming black body with a small tan head.
Smell: Dark roasted malts with a pleasant, clear-cut blueberry scent. Though crammed into one sentence, I assure you it is a really lovely aroma.
Taste: Blueberry fruitiness right out of the game. Some sweet dark malts struggle to keep up. Taste of sugar-crusted chocolate muffin tops. More blueberries for the finish.
Mouthfeel: A bit above medium-bodied. Mild carbonation.
Drinkability: It’s actually pretty nice. The flavors contrast and complement each other quite well. brewcrew2002 (50), USA

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 23, 2008 Bottle pours a pitch black with tan head. Head does not last long. Mouthfeel is medium. Smells of chocolate and blueberry waft from the glass. Has complex flavors of chocolate, roasted beans, and blueberries. Nice long finish. Very tasty.
