Pouring yields the aroma of fresh blueberries, for sure. Second inspectoin yields more blueberries, caramel, nicely roasted malt, light coffee, molasses, cocoa and a hint of woody spice. The body is big and smooth; it’s been a while since I’ve had a stout and this feels good going down. The first sip shows loads of roasted malt character. Nice roasted/burnt bitterness to balance the sweet malt and the subtle blueberry fruit. The cocoa, malt, coffee and caramel are really nice and compliment the fruit well. I’ve been leary of this for some time, wondering what blueberry and stout tasted like togther, but this was really nice. The fruit is subtle, but it adds depth and a unique character to maek something special. Immy (1912), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA

Strong, sweet black coffee and softchocolate aromas with a light, sweet blueberry puree quality. A bit thin, but with a liveliness not common to a stout. Flavor follows the nose, the berries more pronounced after fully warming. Blueberry and chocolate finish. Pleasant suprise! RealAleDave (45), St. Louis, Missouri, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 18, 2007 Utterly opaque black. Very fine dark brown head sits and stays at a solid quarter inch.
Nose is a touch of wild blueberry over coffee and brown bread. The whole is quite well-intergrated, and nothing is over-the-top.
Medium in the mouth with the bready malt leading over dark chocolate and a touch of coffee. Initially, the blueberry comes across more as a fruity element of the chocolate component, but comes more to the fore (sorry, bad Dark Horse pun) at the finish. Its never obtrusive, and its a quality blueberry flavor - not the nasty taste of supermarket blueberries.
Nice crisp body cuts through the richness of the malt and keeps the beer on its toes. Very nice bottle-conditioned mouthfeel. The restraint of the fruitiness, and the level of integration make this an easy one to down. Great job! footbalm (1219), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA

Man o’ man this thing was very dark, poured her hard and got very little head. Blueberry? I am so glad that the "fruit" was not a major part of thie but rather a team player which allows this to be more complex with some very rich roasted malt thing sgoing on.Thick on the tongue. Aroma was of some chocolate and straight blueberries. I didnt think someone could get this fruit of an aroma in a beer. Flavor had a light bitterness followed by some roastiness and maybe a touch of bitter or sourness probably from a little taste of coffee. Good mouthfeel and body. Definitely my fav stout under 5%. hopslovin (181), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA

Blueberry taste on the front but quickly disappears in the finish. More coffee presence in the taste than blueberry. Good beer. moejuck (1172), Ohio, USA

The aroma is roasted coffee with a hint of blueberry. Medium palate with low carbonation. Roasted coffee falvor with a light blueberry presence--which I’m happy doesn’t overrun the taste. Slight yeast flavor mixed in. Solid stuff.
