COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A full bodied stout made with all malted barley and blueberry. Flavors of chocolate, roast malt and light blueberry make up the palate with lots of fruity blueberry aroma.

UPDATED: MAY 2, 2007 Bottle. This beer pours super opaque black with a dark brown head and a wall of lacing. I have to admit, the prospect of a stout brewed with blueberries does not sound very good. But the aroma is marvelous. Rich chocolate and earthen notes interwine harmoniously with a subtle hint of blueberries. Now for the true test: the flavor. Wow. It’s rich of drying espresso complete with a smoky finish. Then, a velvety undertone of blueberries mixes with rich chocolate to really smooth everything out. The description of a "surprisingly light palate" is way off base. This is one of the sturdiest 4.5% stouts I’ve had. Maybe they were referencing specifically the blueberry flavor. A few more sips brings the blueberries up front just a bit more, but what really lingers is the smoky finish of espresso and bark. I am especially blown away given my low expectations for this brew and my general aversion to fruit beers in general. Cheers! [an update from my Dark Lord excursion] Had a little taste of this on tap at Rich O’s this time. I was shocked at the large blueberry presence both in the aroma and the taste. This is not at all what I remember nor is it what my notes indicate. I know my first bottle was a few months old at the very least and perhaps that aging allowed the blueberry character to mellow out and the malts to come together. I’m not going to change my rating until I get another taste, but I was a little let down when I had it the second time. Still it was all right.

Pours like an oil slick, dark head fades quickly. Great blueberry aroma head but it doesn’t interfere with the stout-ness of this drink. There is a slight acrid note on the backed. Oily texture, huge body, finishes dry with blueberry kick.

On tap at the Craft, this version 5.9%. Opaque black beer, small tan head. Viscous smooth palate, mild fine carbonation. Fresh blueberry - lots of! Rich dark malts underneath, a little roasty. Coffee and bitter dark chocolate. Finishes smooth with more blueberry. A beer of real contrasts - and the blueberry just keeps on coming!

Strong aroma of chocolate and blueberries with a black pour, flavorful and balanced taste that matches the aroma and dry mouthfeel. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at Craft, London. Pours a deep brown, almost black colour with a medium light brown head. Foam vanishes quickly. Aroma is roasty and woody, but quite bland. Some berry-like acidic tone. Taste is sweetish and slightly acidic, with clear notes of blueberries and roasted malts. The berris actually dominate and their acidity helps cut through the bitterness. Mouthfell is medium with soft carbonation. Overall, very nice and interesting, and easy to drink, but a bit more flavour would help.

Bottles from erzbierschof in bern and on tap at ølbarn in copenhagen. Nice malty chocolate and blueberry aroma. Pours oily and opaque, brown head. Sweet and well-balanced. Even smoother balance from the tap. The blueberry flavor is quite strong, even through all the stouty bitterness. Thick creamy mouth feel. Well carbonated but not fizzy.

I love me a dark beer, and I think we can all agree that it’s hard to find a stout or porter with a particular fruit in its name. This beer covered all the main components of a spectacular stout and one up’d it by adding a perfect amount of blueberry to it. Smells of blueberries. Pours completely black. Tastes of chocolate, coffee and blueberries. Has a fairly pleasant mouth feel. Overall this beer was all that I wanted and was expecting... There are countless amounts of fruit wheat beers, but how many fruit stouts do you have? Blueberry wheat beer is to this stout as blueberry poptarts is to blueberry pie.

On tap at Beer Temple. Dark brown body with dark tan head. Nose is of blueberrys, also roasty stout and tar and oil and molasses. Taste is roasty, toasty and blueberrys definitely kick in. Took me a few sips to really get into it and to get it, but quite enjoyable and interesting. Well done.

On tap @ Beer Temple. Black color. Firm tan head, like mocha. Strong blueberry aroma, some roast, medium sweet. Flavor is lightly sweet, roasted. Medium body, soft carbonation. Finishes with more roast, slightly ashy, medium bitter. Nice combination.

Poured from 12oz bottle. Pours very dark brown with a bit of tan head. Aroma is blueberries and a touch of chocolate. Taste is blueberries and roasted malts. I would have loved this to be a touch sweeter. Having had Bramble recently, I know how good a stout with berries can be, this lacked the complexity and sweetness of Bramble, but was still a really interesting beer.
