roccotool (25), USA Oct 11, 2006 Thanks to Zinc Tuba for the bottle. Some flavors need to remain traditional with a line drawn somewhere and this is one of them. Blueberry shouldn’t be with a dark roasted, chocolatey stout and this one proves it. It didn’t complement the blueberry at all.
Trizzle (1), Indianapolis, Indiana, USA does not count Jan 2, 2009 A surprisingly clever beer. Not too much fruit, which is nice. Aroma had me thinking it’d be a fruit punch to the mouth; nice surprise! General66 (106), Streator, Illinois, USA Dec 24, 2008 12 ounce bottle. As always, I was excited to try a new beer from Dark Horse. I did not know what to expect with this one though... a blueberry stout seemed a bit strange to me. Poured a deep black color with a almost nonexistent brown head. The aromas consisted of bitter chocolate, coffee, roasted nuts, and sugary malts. As the beer warmed I could smell some blueberries but nothing overwhelming. The taste was very common of a stout; chocolate and roasty with very faint hints of blueberry. Finished smooth with a nice stout bitterness. Overall a good stout but did not have a lot of blueberry character. miketd (461), Cleveland, Ohio, USA Nov 1, 2008 Dark pour with a brown head. Straight Blueberry nose with some bitter chocolate. Interesting flavor. Like a chocolate/blueberry muffin. Thick and creamy. Much better than expectations. Glouglouburp (2113), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Oct 23, 2008 In short: A highly roasted blueberry stout. An interesting and almost successful attempt (almost).
How: Bottle 12oz, age unknown. From HogtownHarry, thanks a lot Harry.
The look: Black body topped by a tan ring of foam
In long: Nose is highly roasted, some black coffee and only a little hint of blueberries. Taste has the blueberries more upfront and adds molasses and chocolate notes to the black coffee and highly roasted flavours detectable from the nose. Body is full, carbonation is lively. The beer has an overall dry sensation. I was very much intrigued by this beer and I’m glad I got to try it. The result was not as good as I hopped nor was it as bad as I feared, so I was both relieved and saddened, like the time I peed myself in my favourite jeans. Alldaydrinker (489), Norwood, Massachusetts, USA Oct 23, 2008 Pours a rich black color with a small tan head. Nose is rich of chocolate, blueberries, roasted malt, molasses, brown sugar. Initial taste is deeply roasted, dark chocolate, caramel, molasses. Mid Palate displays light blueberries, black coffee, continuing roasted malt. Finishing silky smooth with a great palate duration. Medium body. Overall very delicious,.
