Sample at the brewpub. Pours a slightly hazy orange color with a medium foamy pinkish-white head that burns away steadily. Short strings of lacing. Aroma of sweet malt and blueberry. Medium body with flavors of toasted malt and subtle blueberry. The finish is sweet with a berry aftertaste. Doesn’t beat you over the head with the fruit. Decent overall.

Shared from a growler. Pours a light amber with just a bit of purple (maybe my imagination). Medium sized white head. Aroma is of blueberry. Flavor is of an amber ale with healthy hints of blueberry. Darkhorse always does nice job with their fruit beers in the sense that the fruit is meant to complement, not overwhelm. The caramel and toast give a nice body that would stand up fine without the blueberry. A nice experimental beer worthly of a tasting.

More than the sum of the parts. A dainty beer, with real malty bready accents in the aroma with real blueberry. Blueberry flavor is muted and you get some of the graininess from the malt (kind of like an amber ale, with light-to-moderate blueberry flavor). Good and very drinkable. Good looking beer, nice head which diminshes quickly.

Tap @ Dark Horse. Clear, burnt orange appearance with a cream colored head. A touch tart blueberry, a touch spicy, light caramel aroma. Light spicy, caramel malty, dull blueberry flavor. Not bad but really nothing spacial.
