2008 MGB Winter Fest: Muddled brown hue with reddish and golden highlights, small frothy head and minimal lace. The aroma has notes of caramel covered cherry, light handed funk, oak, vanilla bean, and some herbal esters. The taste is fruity and woody with sweet grains as a base. A hint of whiskey and spice upon the finish. A layer of funk, yeast and sourness throughout the flavor profile. The mouth feel is sharp and aggressive with a tannic dry finish. A neato brew but more a Flemish Sour Ale than a Berliner Weisse for sure. Worth the wait till 3 PM for the un-tapping.

Bottle @ the rake dungeon. I think I have womencantsail to thank for this whale. Pours a hazy dull, dark orange appearance with little head. The aroma has a lot of acetic acid, chemicals / acetone, and a dull fruitiness. There is a lemony element to the flavor that is the one redeeming factor. Some cherry-like fruitiness. Lots of nail polish remover in the flavor. Highly acidic finish. Not good.

A bottle in cellar for a couple years from this dreadful series, but Iím hopeful. Murky red-amber with no head, no lacing / Sour, acetone nose of orchard fruit and oak / Nope, as bad as the rest . . . . Just awful. Canít account for the difference between this bottle and the much better reviews. Generally, this line of sours from Dark Horse have been universally panned, and this is as bad as most.

Bottle. Pours dark orange amber with white head. Nose/taste of whiskey barrel, chocolate, soured dark and citrus fruits and candy sugar. A bit thick on the palate. Whiskey adds an odd dimension.

This one had a lot going on and I enjoyed all of it. I tasted fruit, oak, whiskey, belgian spice, vanilla and sugar. A very well blended brew. Iím really loving Belgians.

750ml bottle. pours a reddish amber with minimal head. aroma of sour funk, oak, cheese rind, caramel sweetness, and some lingering must. acidic, wild, and unique. flavor of an american wild, with added nuts, sweet breads, and some fig...big tartness and vinaigrette as well. quite nice

Sample from bottle. Pours a hazy amber brown with a medium off white head. The nose is tart and acidic to open, boozy whiskey with some white grape showing up as well. The flavor is also tart and acidic with grapes and whiskey throughout. This comes off more as a sour, not simply a Belgian strong. Either way I found it to be an interesting brew.

Carlos kicks ass. This bottle was shared at verities 9 release. Spicy and sharp. Lots of strong going on. Pucker puller and sweet lingering. Awesome.

notb draft pour has an aroma of sweet bourbon, light funk, and yeast. mouth feel is light and a bit sticky for a sour. flavor is on the rye side of the bourbon, light sour twang, and faint fruit. there is an odd sweet and sour up against the bourbon.

Sour, acetic, a bit bretty, and a lot of whiskey. Iíd really like to try the fruited versions, because this was pretty good.
