3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Reviewed from notes.
Pours a medium copper color with a very thin off-white head and a spot or two of lacing on the edges of the glass. The nose brings a prominent whiskey character forward, and this then eventually gives way to a light citrus sourness. This is a better example of a whiskey sour than the beer from Shortís by that name was. Mili cherry and some oak as well. The flavor isnít quite as reminiscent of an 18-year-oldís favorite mixed drink, but itís still pretty enjoyable. Finish has a bit of whiskey burn from a sourness that goes well with it. Original and interesting; highly enjoyable. Perhaps more so than the bottled version seems to be.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Pours an amber color with a thin whisp of a off white head. Aroma is light funk, malt, yeast. Flavor is light sour fruit, whisky, funk, light malt, light yeast. Palate is medium bodied, mild to almost no carbonation, finished mildly sour, lightly dry. Split a bottle with Patrick767 and a couple others at the brewery, outside, where it was cold as balls, tried it agian at home where I could let it warm a bit and liked it even more. Lacking carbonation, and not exactly the prettiest beer Iíve ever seen, but good flavor and enjoyable overall.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
bomber from the brewery at the winterfest - This special release of Whiskey Richard made with wild yeast was available in very limited quantities at Dark Horseís winter festival. I had the version with no fruit that a few of us at the fest went in on together. There were also a handful sold with blueberries added. This beer smelled mainly of wild yeast with a malt background. The flavor is tart but smooth for the style with the brett taste quite apparent but not overpowering. It has a mild finish and overall is quite enjoyable.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
750 ml shared at Derekís Tasting. Thanks! Pours a murky pinkish hue, a touch of purple with a small frothy whitish head that laces small. Some blueberries end up in my glass. Aromas are some blueberry, sour lactic acid, orange slices, touches of oaky wet wood, tannins, faint touch of whiskey, light funk, dust, light berry fruitiness. Touches of yogurt grow. Initial is lighter, a touch of acidity, citrusy oranges and a touch of lemon, berry sourness is decent, yogurt lactic quality is a big element. Some berry, a touch of rust, faint vinegar with lingering berry, tartness, and light brettiness that grows on the palate as I get further in, dry and dusty, perhaps some hay falls into the fold. A simple beer, tasty, but not overly flavorful and complex. Some of the orange notes and subtle blueberry does grab me. Interesting. Time seems to have done it some good was the consensus many at the table who had it before thought. I agreed it was flavorful, tasty enough and not offensive. An interesting sour I was not expecting.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
A: The pour is a slightly hazed golden orange color with a rather small amount of white foam which quickly fades to a few bubbles around the edge of the glass.
S: Smells quite nice. Tart fruits, specifically lemon and peach, perhaps some white grape. Lots of vanilla and whiskey, and a pronounced charred oak aroma. Lightly lactic and acidic with a definite caramel malt character.
T: Starts out sweet and malty with a substantial whiskey flavor. As the beer warms up, it really improves. A solid lemon tartness along with some white grapes and peach. Charred oak and vanilla from the barrel work nicely with the rest of the flavors.
M: Medium in body with a rather low carbonation. The minimal carbonation doesnít really take away too much.
O: At the first sip, I thought this had too much whiskey, but it really was a good beer and I enjoyed it quite a bit.

Poured provided by Maltzilla. By this point of the night my palate was so shot that I didnít bother taking notes. However I do recall this being a fairly decent beer. Not super sour or tart but it was fairly easy to drink and made for a decent sipper.
