Dark reddish brown, Frothy beige/tan head which soon dies back to a thin layer., Medium body with low to medium carbonation with a slightly effervescent feel on the tongue. Sweet roasty malty flavours and touch of coffee and spicy honey and a hint of alcohol. There’s only a very light bitterness in the finish leaving the malt to dominate but not sickly sweet like some. Much better than the Dark Isle Black lager.

Good size off-white head on a ruby red body. Taste has some dried apricots with not enough porter characters that I like. Not bad in fact a little different just doesnt do a lot for me. Keep the honey out and increase the malt flavours more.

Dark red/brown in colour with a thin off-white head which rapidly dispates. Medium carbonation and body. Flavour, sweet & malty with hints of coffee, those hints becoming stronger in the aftertaste. Mildly bitter with a nice finish. Very enjoyable. - (330ml Brown glass bottle)

20 Nov 05 - Malt metallic aroma. Cloudy medium brown colour, good beige head and suds lacing. Hugely metallic and weird medicinal flavours. Thickish palate, but the bitter smokey metallic tatse lingers. I guess the Leatherwood Honey is bad news.

Bottle at RBESG grand tasting, August 2005. Once you get over the fact that this isn’t really much like a porter, this isn’t too bad (although others seem to disagree). Coppery colour and quite hoppy. Bit it also has lots of sweet caramel too. Although my experience of Australian beers is limited, they don’t seem to do roasty. Slightly thin. Not great but perfectly palatable. Perhaps I am being rather charitable because I found it a welcome change after a long run of heavy bocks and Scandinavian winter beers.

Woody, catty aroma has musty notes of honey. Clear light copper coloured body with decent and lasting fine bubbled head. Honey-like, fruity flavour with moderate finishing bitterness. Light body with lively carbonation that prickles the tongue. Bottle sampled at RBESG 2005.

Bottle. Not really a porter in my book. The colour is amber for starters, not a deep brown that i normally associate with porters. Sweet honey, caramel, and some sort of tinned fruit (not sure what). Not very good.

An unclear brown beer with a disappearing yellow head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of caramel, a dry finish, and a carbonated mouthfeel.
