3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from the Partridge, dark brown with little head and a faintly nutty and earthy nose, body is rich and malty, with toffee and a nuttiness, yet with a distinctly continental hoppiness. Nice bitter-sweet balance, and faint liquorice an cocoa in the finish. Rather like a Germanic brown ale, which I suppose is not far off what the original northern Dunkelbocks would have been.
