UPDATED: AUG 8, 2008 Cask at Reading Beer Fest with chris_o and duff. Golden colour, reallly hoppy , citrusy nose. Tart lemon citrus fruit flavour that grows towards the finish which is dry, juicy, lemony and hoppy 4.4
Re-rate, oooh which shall I pick? Bottled fresh from the Butcher’s Arms in Herne. I had had a full day on the Saturday and bought a 2 litre bottle of this to take home. Therefore on the Sunday I wasn’t really feeling like a beer, and then I had to have this to make sure it didn’t go off. The grapefruit hop is outstanding and never let down or unbalanced by the malt. The two move together beautifully. A stunning APA

I couldn’t believe this beer wasn’t on here. Well.......
Darkstar are not afraid to experiment and they do it well. How do they get that Darkstar taste? This is pretty damn hoppy but really sweet. A classic, grapefruity, straw coloured (colored in the u.s.), aromatic, pale beer. Far too sweet for some palates but this makes it what it is.
Had it at the Wenlock in early ’05 so I just know from this alone that nothing was wrong with it.
Possibly seasonal but would love to see it again. and drink it!

Cask at the Wigan Beer Festival. This was superb, my favourite light coloured beer of the day. Dark, crystal clear amber colour with a good white head. Floral/citrus/hop aroma, more flowery, grapefruit hoppiness in the taste with a good mality balance. Long dry/bitter finish and a beautifully balanced palate. A very good example of the excellent American Pale Ale style. More like this, please.
4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20 davet100 (16) - Virginia, USA - MAR 26, 2011
Cask @ Odiham & Greywell Cricket Club. .Pale golden appearance and very hoppy. Very reminiscent of some of the American craft beers, and perhaps not to everyone’s taste, but it was mine. Strong grapefruit overtones, well hopped, with a balanced bitterness that made it extremely quaffable, flavourful, and refreshing. Something I would try again in a heartbeat.
4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 Spiesy (2336) - Sydney, Greater London, AUSTRALIA - OCT 1, 2004
Cask Conditioned, at the Wenlock Arms, London. Pale yellow colour with white persistent frothy head. Amazing to look at. Massive American hop aroma, absolutely knock out. Slight faint sulphur notes are only noticeable once you’ve adjusted to the massive aroma and body. Masses of flavour in this glass, almost palate destroying. Hop and hop again. I love APA’s. This beer was easily the best British attempt at a new world, hop-knock-out. Well done Rob for knocking this out and many thanks do my good-buddy Dave for calling this one in.

Cask, Far From The Madding Crowd, Oxford. Warm gold, lots of sticky fine white head. Fantastic fresh hop aroma, tangerines, cinnamon, leather, just a touch of mint. Intensely fruity orange hops, spicy and fresh. Gentle bitterness, blending with a warm, gentle biscuit malt backbone. Medium body, very soft. Just plain delicious.

Cask Conditioned at The Regency Tavern, Brighton. Pale Golden beer with big bubbly head. Gorgeous aroma of fresh hops introduce the beer which is a citric lemon grapefruit aromatic beauty. Nicely dry with a crisp malty base followed by a gentle acidity of late hopping. Excellent.

UPDATED: APR 16, 2008 Blackfriers. Iv rarely had to ever deal with such a lively cask, i must have lost over a gallon in wasteage, but worth it! Pours increadibly light, pale to a new level, like berliner weisse or something. Aroma is just out of this world, the hops slap you back and forth, citrus, grapefruit, lemongrass, lychee, woooo. Taste is a similar citrusy grapefruity beast, incredible sharp bitterness pluks the mouth, just amazing how drinkable this beast is, it rivals brewers gold easy. Mon the dark star indeed. RERATE: Same score, brilliant citrus hoppy goodness in every direction.
