UPDATED: MAR 8, 2011 Bevuta a pompa alla Brasserie 4:20 (Roma) - Rubino scuro, con schiuma morbida poco persistente. Naso quasi assente. In bocca dolciastra, si percepisce il malto, caramello, sentori di caffè e un finale amarognolo. Molto equilibrata. Al palato piatta, oleosa, acquosa, corpo medio. Davvero ottima.

On tap at Oliver Twist in Stockhom. It poured a very dark amber liquid with a small light beige head. Malty flavour with bread, caramel, toast, a hint of flowers and a light bitterness. Smooth mouthfeel and medium thick body. Nice real ale, enough flavour to make it nice to drink.

Cask at the Harp, London. Pours a dark, opaque brown with a medium, foamy, light tan head. Malt aroma with bread and some sweat. Fairly sweet, with a prominent roast character. Also some mild fruit notes and earthy bitterness. Medium bodied with soft carbonation and mild alcohol warmth. Finishes sweet with some light drying and earthen bitters. Good stuff.

@ Harp. Dark nutty brown. The aroma has light toffee and unfortunately a little pedio (which so often the English punters don’t seem to notice or mind). Hints of toffee and chocolate. Perhaps a bit tart.

Cask @ Harp. Near-black, frothy cask head. Aroma is disappointing with some pedio and random bugginess. Is it the taps @ the Harp because several of the beers have had this same flaw in the aroma? Palate is a bit sticky but is quaffable nonetheless. Nice roast in the finish. The malt is gorgeous and it gets better with every sip. Would like to try again.
