On cask at The Curfew in Berwick upon Tweed - Cracking condition deep ruby black body with a cream head that laces all the way down. Nose of mature malt and fruit almost Soreen like. Thick body helps with the robust dark cake fruits from start to finish. Excellent

UPDATED: MAY 21, 2016 On cask at the Guildford Arms. Appearance - deep black with an olive like sheen and some red chinks around the bottom of the glass. Nose - treacle, biscuits and nuts. Taste - big treacle and booze notes. Liquorice and general liqueur thing going on. Nuts hanging outin the background. Palate - medium bodied or more. Rich tangy if a bit gnarly, middle section. Dry, long lean finish. Overall - great palate. The notes are big and in some parts challenging but the challenge is definitely worth it.

Cask at the Prince Arthur (JDW), Fleet. A deep mahogany colour with a loose tan head; aroma of richly roasted malts, with some vanilla; milky body with a burnt caramel taste; then a drier finish with hints of tobacco and smoke. Rather good.

Nocturne (1716) - Cheshire, ENGLAND - OCT 8, 2015
Cask at Craft Beer Co, Clerkenwell. Dark brown/black with a hint of red. Thin off-white cap. Lots of red and dark fruit notes plus a helping of coffee maltiness. Very smooth and drinkable on cask. A nice old-fashioned dark ale.

On tap @ The William Morris, Hammersmith, London. Pours a deep ruby-hued brown body with a medium creamy off-white head. Nose is molasses, nuts, coca-cola, nougat and hints of caramel, chocolate and grains. Taste is caramel, molasses, nougat, nuts and hints of chocolate and grains. Light, near-watery body, soft carbonation. Pretty decent old ale, although it virtually begs for a couple of more percentages of ABV in my opinion, ensuring fullness of body and taste volume.
