2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 ante (3375) - Stockholm, - AUG 6, 2006
(Cask at Oliver Twist, Stockholm) Clear pale brown appearance. Aroma is pretty dull of soap, light chocolate and toffee. Short flavour of walnut, milky chocolate and roasted grains. Thin mouthfeel. Short grainy aftertaste with a nutty accent. Surprisingly mediocre beer from Dark Star.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Svesse (4392) - Hässelby, SWEDEN - AUG 7, 2006
(Cask at Oliver Twist, Stockholm) Colour is amber, with little head. Nose is fruity, with citrus, some grapefruit, balanced dusty hoppiness and hints of spice and some smoke. Taste starts fruity, turns maltier with nutty notes and a balanced, rather dry finish. Not bad at all, but you might expect more bite from Dark Star.

Cask handpull at Market Porter, Borough. Deep copper colour with thin white head. Blackcurrant herby hop aroma (could have willamatte hops) Bit of yeast. Bit of choc malt in mouth. Bready. Smokey bacon finish. Really impressive beer. Very good malt.

Cask conditioned - gravity dispense - Chelmsford BF. A copper coloured beer with what seemed light a slight haze. The aroma has some very subtle ginger and spice notes amidst the piney hops. The taste again has some subtle spiciness but is ultimately quite dry. Ok, but no more.
