tombyars (1348) - Saltcoats, SCOTLAND - JUL 22, 2014
Tasted this at the GRAF in the Briggait, Glasgow on 27th June 2014. Cask, gravity dispense. Pours a dull black with an open tan head. Strong aroma of Nescafe granules, long in intensity. Thin oily mouthfeel and poor lacing. Dark malts give a strong black coffee flavour with a hint of chicory and plain chocolate full in the mouth. Very little in the way of hop resins detected in the aftertaste as coffee dominates overall. Finish is malty and dry with liquorice, plain chocolate and barley grain coming through in the palate. An ok session Stout but some might find the coffee element too domineering though.

Cask at Hand and Heart, Nottingham. Clear, mahogany colour. Bubbly, tan head. Light chocolate. Some tar. Coffee. Taste is dry, and light fruity. Finish is dry, with a light bitterness.

Cask west riding dewsbury. Mild coffee roasted malt aroma. Taste is same light bitterness. Body bit thin. Not the best.

Very mild coffee aroma. The name is misleading. Quite flavoursome but not the coffee hit I was expecting. Also quite a clean tasting. Very very dark. Marked it down a bit for the sheer disappointment of it not living up to the name. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Cask @ Fox & Goose, Hebden Bridge. Black, medium to full-bodied with a thick frothy head. Has a fuller roasted malt aroma with coffees abundant here and in its taste.

Black with off-white creamy head that sticks nicely to edges leaving good lacing. That’s coffee in aroma all right! Not french roast, more the roast I’m used to here in Finland. Also chocolate. Dry aroma. Lots of medium roast dry coffee in flavor, long dry and medium bitter roasted finish, medium body, chocolate also. Lots and lots of coffee bit covering everything else. Natural coffee aroma and flavor but this is quite minimalistic.

mjs (4460) - Helsinki, FINLAND - JAN 29, 2014
(Cask at Angleterre, 20140129) The beer poured black. Its head was small and lightly brown. Aroma had coffee, toasted malts and sweetness. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were coffee, pepper, toasted malts and bitterness. Aftertaste had coffee and bitterness. A well done coffee-infused brew.

Gravity cask @ Urban Taphouse. Smelt like the old dregs from a coffee machine.. very watery taste and lacking the fresh punch from a keg. Disappointing.
