Cask; Regular. Also available nitrokeg and filtered bottle for which we have a separate entry.
Specially blended and ground espresso coffee beans are added to the copper along with the late hops to produce this dark, rich stout.

Dark brown body with tan head. Nose of roasted malts and chocolate. Nice smooth and creamy texture. The espresso is much lighter than other stouts. Nice taste of malts, caramel with some bitterness in the finish. Nice little number.

With a cheesy name like "Dark Star" Brewery, I expected the worst. Couldn’t be more pleasantly surprised. Unique burnt, foresty aroma Complex burnt/nutty/malty flavours are muted and balanced to make it as drinkable as any cola. Unlike others in its class, it’s distinctly neither bitter nor sweet. Shortfalls are slightly thin, flattens out fast, washing out the complexity, and slight sour aftertaste--which is fleeting. But perfect balance is why I give this super-smooth beer coffee-style beer a high rating. I drank this way too fast ...

Cask at Kitty’s, Helsinki, Finland.
Black colour with foamy tan head. Mild roasted malt and lots of coffee in aroma. Some goes with flavour plus some hops added. I’m not huge fan of coffee but I tried. Couldn’t finish. Sorry.

[3226-20100801] Cask. Mild burnt leaf aroma with a little dirt, garden, and stinky shoes. Black body with a medium-lasting creamy light tan head and thick lacing. Quite dry-roasted wood bark flavour with some coffee bean bitterness. Full body. Interesting pint to sample.

Poured a dark brown colour with a foamy beige head. Aroma of pure espresso with some malty notes. Flavour of espresso, roasted malts and spices. Slick mouthfeel and low carbonation. Pleasant and easy to drink.

Great specialty beer. Coffee flavour is quite strong and almost independent from the beer’s flavour, which could be a good or bad thing depending on your taste. Thick texture and sweet feeling.

Drucken på flaska. En len, rund, fin stout med kaffefinish. Inte särskilt tung, men väldigt välavägd med precis lagom mycket kaffe att balansera choklad och rostadmalt smakerna.

This is exactly like meantime coffee porter, I mean, in a blind taste test, there is no way I could tell them apart. The aroma is stale burnt coffee, malts, chocolate malt, and mint, strange, but it works. The flavor is an exact reflection of the aroma, with a touch of cardboard, probably malt extracts, a little over priced, seems like the flavors were built from extracts, but it’s ok, decent.

2010-08-01. Very dark brown black body with a small beige head. Aroma of cold espresso or coffee, and and odd note of mushy peas, muted dusty malt. Flavour has similar cold coffee/espresso character, roast with light ashen character, light bitterness throughout. Muted malts below. 5+ Average palate. Not awful but very much not to my tastes. Cask at GBBF 2010. A dark brown/black coloured pour with a small off white head. Malty, roasty aroma. Tastes roasty, coffee, hint of chocolate. A decent rich tasting stout.
