Cask conditioned @ Standing Order (JDW), Soton. Coffee aroma with vanilla, chocolate, dark berries. Reasonably full bodied with some malty sweetness coming through then drying out slightly with some earthy hops. Quite tasty.

On cask. Pours a brown colour with almost no head to speak of. Just a ring of brownish big bubbles. Aroma is coffe, rosted malts and wood. Tastye is bitter-ish With roasted malts and coffee. Some cocoa nibs as well. Mouthfeel is medium with good carbonation. Overall, very nice coffe stout, wherw coffee is perfecrtly blended in flavours and is not overpowering.

Cask @ The White Horse. Deep slightly hazy brown color with a frothy tan head. The nose is strong espresso, coffee creamer. Bitter chocolate, some ashy wood and tobacco. The taste is very heavy coffee with a sweet chocolate milk finish. Bitter light hoppy finish. A bit watery though pleasant. Quite an easy beer to nurse. Overall, quite nice, though I do like the coffee.

Black pour. Small tan head. Some lacing left behind. Smells like coffee. Tastes like watered down coffee. Some chocolate. Not bad, but a bit too much like a cold coffee and not enough ’beer’.

Cask at Cloisters. Black with red tinges around the edges, thin tan head. Roasty coffee notes on the nose, along with a touch of vanilla. The flavours present realy black coffee, with a little blackberry and some toffee. Delish.

Pint at the Twickenham Beer Festival 2011. Black beer, no head. Nice coffee aroma, and not overpowering. Tastes a bit like espresso (surprise) with some bitterness and a dry aftertaste. A fair stout that could even be a session beer. Obviously if I was a massive coffee fan I’d have rated it higher.

500ml bottle. Black as black can get. This is one solid looking beer. The head is even and carries a soft tan foam, Aroma wise there is chocolate and coffee going on. While it looks thick it is quite thin in the mouth but this does not detract from the beer at all. Smooth and creamy in the mouth with a coffee aftertaste.

Cask at Amber Valley CAMRA beer fest Oct 2011 As dark as you’d expect, with some roasty notes on the aroma; less coffe flavour than I’d anticipated given the style. Overall OK not great

Black beer with a fair light tan head. Great nose with aromas of coffee, chocolate and chocolate malt. Tastes primarily of ground espresso coffee beans with some chocolate again. Creamy mouthfeel and a little bitter. Very nice!
