Having tried this a few times late in the evening at festivals I was keen to give it a more considered tasting. The beer tastes exactly as promised, of cold coffee with perhaps a little fag ash. The aroma, is coffee and cigarettes. The appearance an appealing coffee black. The taste.. coffee and fags. The palate is a little thinner than you would expect from a stout, but in keeping with the notion of a coffee beer, so suitable. The beer is a one trick pony, and I grew a little bored of it near the bottom of the bottle, but its a fun beer, that fulfills it brief consummately. Id happily recommend trying it once.

Bottle at home in London - sourced from an online retailer. Pours deep brown with a frothy beige head that quickly settles into a film. The aroma holds charred malts, burnt coffee grounds, hints of cocoa and earth. Light to medium sweet flavor with a bit of damp tobacco, mild espresso, some burnt toast, light bitter earth, burnt wood, ash. Light bodied with average carbonation. Finishes with more ashy roast, scorched earth and relaxed coffee character. Fine overall

Draught @Cerveseria Jazz Barcelona. Pours black with one finger of cappuccino-like beige head. Aroma is roasted malts, light coffee, peat. Similar taste, very light sweetness, peat and smoke aroma without the usual alcoholic whisky note. Coffee taste lighter than expected.

500ml bottle from the LCBO in Peterborough, Ontario. Near black in colour with a thin lasting tan head, good lacing. The aroma is of espresso, coffee, smoke, nuts, and lots of sweet malts. The flavour is a bit on the thin side, some roasted coffee bitterness but nearly no espresso. Thin lightly bitter mouthfeel, medium/light body, mild carbonation. Finishes average length, lightly bitter. It never really recovers from what really is a nice aroma. Lacking oomph.

Almost black body, small beige head. Aroma is caramel, toffee, hints of burned grass, chocolate, coffee. Low maltiness, mild bitterness. Texture is smooth, palate is thin. Finish is long, moderately dry, slightly bitter. ABV is conveniently low. Nice but a bit watery overall.
