3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Having tried this a few times late in the evening at festivals I was keen to give it a more considered tasting. The beer tastes exactly as promised, of cold coffee with perhaps a little fag ash.
The aroma, is coffee and cigarettes. The appearance an appealing coffee black. The taste.. coffee and fags.
The palate is a little thinner than you would expect from a stout, but in keeping with the notion of a coffee beer, so suitable.
The beer is a one trick pony, and I grew a little bored of it near the bottom of the bottle, but it’s a fun beer, that fulfills it brief consummately. I’d happily recommend trying it once.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours an almost black colour with a mocha head, good retention and some creamy lacing. Roasted malt aromas with some nice coffee. The flavours shows more the coffee over the roasted malts with hints of chocolate. Seems watered-down, because of the low alcohol content, but overall, a nice coffee stout.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
0,5l bottle at home courtesy of Cuso, big thanks. No obvious BB date. black color, small coffee-colored head. smells of coffee, bitter herbs, quite roasty, some bitter chocolate, light licorice, hints of vanilla. nice smell. light to medium body, soft carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes of licorice, vanilla, light roast, some bitter herbs, coffee grounds, hints of chocolate, light fruit notes. finishes rather watery towards the finish, with some roast and notes of bitter herbs, some licorice and light vanilla notes. decent one, not a fan of vanilla so gets a bit of a penalty for that, but overall enjoyable, finish is a bit watery though. plus points for the low ABV.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle from Countrywise Upton. Think I like it but a bit odd! Plenty of coffee flavour and aroma. Not much else. DeScription is "black beer" not stout?!
Definitely a stout though.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle thanks to Lorna. It pours near black with a small beige head. The nose is rich roast, bitter - sweet, espresso coffee, cacao nibs and burnt treacle. The taste is smooth, bitter, rich roast, coffee, touch of cracked black pepper, touch of acidity and dark chocolate with a dry finish. Light -medium body and fine, prickly carbonation. Perhaps a touch thin, but it is a respectable coffee stout nonetheless.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle @The Pond, Leith. Pours almost black but with a red tinge, tan head. Nose is coffee, nutty slight chocolate but overwhelmingly coffee. Taste is very much the same, my only problem with it is that its just one coffee taste, needs more depth, nice enough.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours black with a cappuccino coloured head. Aroma is roasted malts, earth but not much else. Not much coffee going on in this brew, roasted malts and earthy taste like the aroma. A nice thick beer though.
