Wonderful chocolatey coffee aromas but no depth to taste. Thin watery burnt espresso taste and then fades quickly to nothing.

A deep dark stout with a thick collapsing brown head. In aroma very pleasant resinous coffee grind, espresso, musty and complex. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity chocolate malt with herbaceous character, light bitter chocolate, a bit thin but still solid after 4 years. Bottle from LCBO.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Pours a black colour with a fizzy tan head. Strong aroma of roasted coffee beans, roasted malts, earth, ash and wood. Taste of roasted malts, definite coffee, earth, tobacco, some chocolate and a little caramel. Light bodied and soft carbonation. A dry, roasted coffee finish. If you enjoy coffee, this is definitely the beer for you. It’s so drinkable and could be a morning drink. I like it.

Black beer with a short tan head that laces the glass. Fresh uncomplicated roast malt aroma and flavour. Good carbonation. Well balanced although Arabica beans surprisingly understated given the name. Light coffee tones more prominent towards the finish. Delicious

3.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
500 ml bottle from Les Vignerons. Dark brown, looks almost black in the glass, with a big, fluffy and persistent beige head. Subtle but at the same time glorious aroma, notes of coffee powder, sweet milk chocolate, burnt toffee, caramel/mou candies and a hint of vanilla. Some little piney and herbal hoppy notes as well. The taste pretty much follow suite, despite being way less intense and inviting. Definitely more bitter than sweet too, contrary to the aroma. Taste comprises slightly roasted malt, watered down American coffee, licorice extract and some wet cardboard notes. Pleasently smooth and drinkable though, it’s velvety and chuggable almost like a cask ale. Bitter and astringent aftertaste. Average carbonation, light to medium body, slightly oliy texture. OK stout, but the aroma suggested something much more memorable.
