Beeronaut (49), Cambridgeshire, England Sep 16, 2009 Looks fine, transparent clear golden, big fluffy head that quickly dissaperas leaving a fine lacing. Aroma could be better in my opinion, grassy and floral hop notes, but not much depth or complexity... Flavour is very nice, hits up front with good citrusy hops, moves through to grass and then some subtle grapefruit, all the time balanced by a good sweetness stemming from a mixture of alcohol and a hefty barley streak that cuts right through the beer, the latter giving quite a fullnes and richness to the flavour as well as adding a slight warmth. Palate is good, soft and pretty lush. Finish is dry offset by alcohol sweetness. All in all a very good brew. evergreen0199 (259), London, Greater London, England Sep 2, 2009 Cask at White Horse, Parsons Green, London. Golden pour with small white head. Golden color, small white head. Light fruity (pear) nose. Sweet fruity flavor, some alcohol. Pear and apples. Good body ... but not much going on here. Scauca (408), Lovere, Italy Aug 7, 2009 @ The white horse. Someone told this was the beer I shouldn’t miss. A good ale indeed, but unimpressive. Need to re-taste it. anders37 (4516), Malmö, Sweden Apr 16, 2009 Cask @ Market Porter, Borough SE1. Pours a clear golden color with a small white head. Has a fruity malty hoppy grapefruit aroma. Slightly sweetish fruity hoppy bitter grapefruit flavor with some malty hints. My friends and I have always said that the only way you could possibly improve Hophead is to up the strength, low and behold that’s what they’ve done with this. Really is just like Hophead on steroids. Very hoppy with the same grassy aroma and flavour as the original. Beautiful.
