Cask; Seasonal - September to November. Originally a monthly special in July 2008.
A delicate and lightly hopped beer brewed with the restrained bitterness of Czech Saaz hops balanced by the summmery taste and aroma of freshly picked downland elderflowers.

Cask at the White Horse. Pours clear gold, light, with a fine cream head. Floral hop aroma with light grass and bread. Fairly sweet, with mild bread and caramel, then a strong though not excessive bitterness. Plenty of flowery hops and modest earth. Light bodied with fine carbonation and quite smooth. Lightly sweet on the finish with lots of lingering hops. Great stuff.

Cask - Cask Pub & Kitchen, London. Poured a clear yellow with a pencil fine, lasting loose white head. Aromatic hop nose, elderflower and lemon all round. Dry, pithy citrus flavours, (elder)floral notes & spice, some grassiness in the finish. Light to medium body, low to medium carbonation with a lingering spicy, peppery, herbal bitterness.

mjs (4438) - Helsinki, FINLAND - SEP 19, 2010
(Cask at Angleterre, Helsinki) Poured pale golden and almost clear. Head was medium sized, long lasting and white. Aroma contained fruitiness, hops and floweriness. Palate was medium bodied with low carbonation. Flavours were hops, flower and dominating bitterness. Aftertaste was bitter. The bitterness killed all the other flavours too quickly.

Cask handpull at Evening Star, Brighton. Pale gold, thin bubbly white head. Oh now, that is good. Love the elderflower hop mix and the finish is stunning. Just gorgeous. Works so well together with good bit on finish. Lovely hop finish.

OleR (4767) - Oslo, NORWAY - SEP 15, 2010
Full pint from cask@Southampton Arms, London. A low greyish blond head, over a hazed, gold colored body. Subtle elderflowers at first. Then a scent sourish apples and light citrussy hops. Medium malt body, dry with a sourish twist. The hops provide more bitterness than flavor. Citrus again, and some herbal notes. Properly light-bodied, softly carbonated. Hop linger in the finish. Nice all over.

Cask at the Evening Star, Brighton, UK on 30th August 2010. Slightly hazy gold with thin white part-lacing head. Elderflower on the nose. Fruity, and grassy hop in main flavour and a hoppy bitter finish. Lovely.

Pours golden blonde, mildly floral hoppy pint, with the elderflower coming through just before the citrusy bitter finish. The elderflower seems to go rather well, decent.

ante (3374) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - AUG 9, 2009
Cask at Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Pours out in a hazy golden colour with a small creamy white head. Dryish aroma of lemony hops, grass and elder with undertones of cookies. Medium to light-bodied with notes of crackers, lemon-zest, elder and orange-peels. Crisp medium-bitter finish of lemon-zest, cookies and grass.

Not much on the nose, appearance is on the dull brown side. The flavour is awful, I hate elderflower but wanted to try this as it’s darkstar and they usually make great beers. Held my palate hostage for far too long. Yuck.

Cask at the Evening Star, Brighton, 14th July 09. Clear gold with a lacy head. Very strong elderflower aroma and flavour. Definitely different and not to everyone’s taste, but I liked it. Quite a dry finish too.
