COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask & Bottle Conditioned;
Imperial Stout is a truly special beer which harks back to the days when English brewers exported strong stouts and ports to the Baltics. Brewed with a high proportion of roasted barley and target hops, this is complex beer with a big flavour. Our bottle conditioned Imperial Stout has been aged at the brewery so you may enjoy it now, although it will continue to improve for many years.

330 ml bottle.
Pours a black colour with a small white head. Aroma of cherries, dark chocolate, wood and some alcohol. Flavour of roasted malts, alcohol, wood, raisins, vanilla, licorice and some slightly tart berries. Full bodied, oily mouthfeel and a silky smooth, roasty, warming alcohol finish. A rather heavy imperial stout with strong alcohol presence.

Black pour. Big tan head with some lacing. Slight malt aroma, but mostly alcohol. Watered down chocolate shake taste. A bit of malt. Tastes pretty good despite the previous notes. Not bad. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Disappointing. This is the 2012 version. For an imperial lacks body. Pours ok, black with a good tan head but it thins quickly. Roasted malt in the nose but starts to disappoint in the mouth, Thin whilst reasonably balanced, soft but lacks depth and complexity and the 10.5% overwhelms. Maybe will improve with age.

Cask conditioned at Fleetwood Beer Fest ’13. Black with tan head. Heavy, woody tarry flavours from the start with port like fruitiness, loads of alcohol, rich leatheriness. Very deep and lasting if somewhat astringent later on. A real whopper.
