Bottle at home, 4th February. Very black, slight head. Nice heady aroma. Flovour is intense, quite sharp, brown sugar, molasses, almost flavour of a thick black rum, leather, liquorice, not much chocolate or coffee. Good one

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Mad_Ferret (459) - SWEDEN - JAN 23, 2012
Bottle.
Muddy dark reddish brown/black with a short tanned head that doesn’t lace.
Burnt vinous aroma with ash, cold coffee, licorice, berries and plum, sugary caramel and vanilla toffee and a big whiff of alcohol.
Taste is sweet with caramel, burnt ashy, bitter herby, dark fruits and berries and some coffee and bitter chocolate in the back. Bitter herby ending with a big vanilla note in the aftertaste. Alcohol is fairly hidden in the vinous acidity.
Medium to bigger body, low carbonation, slick mouthfeel.
Haven’t had many british imperial stouts, but this one must be one of the better ones I’ve had. A bit too acidic and boozy and lacks the malt heaviness I look for in an imperial stout. Decent.
3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 RichardW (854) - Carlisle, Cumbria, ENGLAND - JAN 19, 2012
Bottle, mybrewerytap.com. Vineous, almost sour aroma, with cherry and brandy notes. Pours flat, with a pitch black appearance, just a trace of a coffee coloured head. Bitter rich dark chocolate flavour, port and sherry notes also. Some slight stale chracteristics, no thickness, surprisingly drinkable at such a high ABV.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Idiosynkrasie (156) - Bielefeld, GERMANY - JAN 18, 2012
330ml bottle. Opaque black with quickly waxing and waning small brown head. Intense dark chocolate aroma with notes of alcohol. Alcohol increases the longer the beer stays in glass. At this time chocolate has faded away and some soya sauce comes in. Late entering taste has chocolate, red wine, soya sauce in a compressed mode. Sadly, there is no development, no variation nor "movement". Somewhat anaemic. Overall impression: insipid.
4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 worldbeertaste (397) - Lancashire, ENGLAND - JAN 15, 2012
Dark berry or cherry dark roast. Strong black and a very faint red ted tint. No head. Silky but thin a little oily, medium body. Very smooth. Stong roasted, chocolate, a little bit of alcohol. Refined taste. Feels a bit heavy.

(bottle, 33cl) Black coloured hue with a beige and short foamy head. Roasty malty and slightly vinous fruity aroma with notes of dark berries, liquorice and vanilla. Bitter and slightly sweet flavour, medium to full bodied with a calm carbonation. Roasty malty taste with an almost Sherry-dry mouthfeel, caramel, coffee and liquorice, also fruity notes of berries and Moncherry; roasty bitter and vinous fruity finish with a good length. Very pleasant. 06.XI.11
