COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask & Bottle Conditioned;
Imperial Stout is a truly special beer which harks back to the days when English brewers exported strong stouts and ports to the Baltics. Brewed with a high proportion of roasted barley and target hops, this is complex beer with a big flavour. Our bottle conditioned Imperial Stout has been aged at the brewery so you may enjoy it now, although it will continue to improve for many years.

33cl bottle courtesy of and shared with _angst_ Brune foncée, col fin beige.

Lager glass. Enjoyed on apr´12. Tan froth, thin lasting crown. Roasted malts & citric hues to the nose. Malts & subtle sourness – green plum-, low bitterness at first sip. Then unexpected hoppy explosion creates a dry palate. Wood & aged hues, gentle viscosity.Full body, soft carbonation. Slightly tartar finish. Comment: barrel notes produce unbalanced flavor. I´ll give it an opportunity so I´ve picked it up to my cellar since I think its complexity reserves nice surprises. We´ll see!

2010 bottle@home for #IMPOFF 700th rate! I’ve previously tried a 5yo version of this. Really uncctuous this one, evil black beer with fluffy tan head. Aromas of blackcurrant and molasses. Tobacco features heavily in taste, alongside roast barley and warming booze. Long finish with a touch of marmite.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy brown with small off white head leaving spotty lacing. The aroma is roasted malt and chocolate. Thin mouthfeel with a sweet roast and sweet finish. A good Imperial stout from Dark Star.

On cask at The Caley. A black beer with a lacy tan head. Aroma of alcohol, liquorice and caramel. Similar flavours with a fairly bitter, burnt toast finish. Mild carbonation and an oily mouth-feel. A long warming alcohol hum. OK but alcohol does overpower with this one.

pours deep black/brown with a tanned head. aroma of molasses, coffee, almond, some chocolate. taste is sweet but well balanced, some cherry, some spice, lots of alcohol. a dry coffee bitterness comes through in the finish. smooth, perhaps a little thin, but its a good example.
