Cask @ The Wenlock, apparently a birthday special for someone nicknamed Little Les.
I’ve really been slacking with entering my rates lately and if I hadn’t really enjoyed it as much, I wouldn’t have even bothered adding it. In fact, I liked it so much I rang the brewery to inquire and was told it was a special batch of their Espresso Stout dry hopped with Target Hops. Dark brown with a whispy off white head. Aroma of cocoa and coffee grounds with an odd fresh plum and apple hint which makes perfect sense now knowing it’s dry hopped. Flavour is coffee, dark chocolate, roasty malt, juicy hops and an almost sour fruit note that I can only describe as biting into an unripe plum, mmm lovely. Slightly watery but the perfectly balanced hoppy cocoa and coffee finish saves the day. It’s no Ecky Thump but between this and the Hophead the hangover was well worth it, believe me.
