COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A balance of speciality malts, including roasted chocolate barley malt, produces the rich malt flavours which are smoothed further with the traditional addition of lactose (milk sugar)

Cask at Euston Tap, London. Black beer with a nice beige head. Milky chocolate aroma, cocoa, creamy notes, licorice and vanilla. Milkt chocolate flavor, licorice, soot, cocoa, salty. Rather on the malty side but still very drinkable. Smooth cream and chocolate finish.

Cask conditioned at The Draft House, Tower Bridge, London. Black with cream head. Dark roasted malty, grainy body carrying a sweet , chocolatey flavour with hints of sweetish nut and a milky flavour. Lasting but a little glutinous on the tongue. I struggled a little.

Cask at Akkurat, Stockholm. Transparently black. Rich roasty coffee aroma. Mid sweet with soft mouthfeel and fairly light body. Coffee with cream with spicy hops atop. Flavourful, soothing and beautifully drinkable. Long bitter finish. A winner!

(Cask at Akkurat, Stockholm) Dark brown colour, almost black, with foamy beige head. Malty, roasted nose with chocolate, dried fruit and sweet coffee. Malty, roasted taste with notes of chocolate, coffee, sweet liquorice, dried fruit and a gentle coffee bitterness in the finish. Medium body, fairly sweet. Well balanced, nice and tasty.

Cask (CWAF2012)
Lovely and dark - a chocolate colour, and a lovely spongy head to match. Doesn’t smell sweet like many milk stouts do. It’s a good rich roast, a touch of coffee if anything. Phil gets crab salad too, bizarrely. Creamy feel in the mouth, and you do get a slight sweetness, in particular in the early finish. Nice. Good mellow roast. Probably one of the best milk stouts we’ve ever had.

UPDATED: JAN 29, 2012 Cask conditioned Handpump Cask & Kitchen London. A very dark brown coloured beer with an off-white bubbly head. A good bitter roasty stout. Definite chocolate notes but they don’t present as particularly sweet. There are mocha notes and a touch of fruit. This is really tasty. Score 4.1

Cask in Craft Beer Co. Colour is opaque very dark brown with a bubbly foamy slightly off white head. Nose is big roasted malt, roasted grain and then a bit of milk chocolate. taste is big time roasted malt, hint of milk chocolate, lactic creaminess and then a hit of black coffee on the finish. What really marks this stout out though, is that is incredibly light bodied for a stout, without being watery or lacking flavours. Very nice, it works.

Cask at CBC. It pours very dark ruby, with a decent foamy off-white head. The nose is roasted malt, charcoal, smoke and milk chocolate (but not overpowering). The taste is roasted malt, milk chocolate, chocolate milkshake, tar, tangy fruit, smoke and resin, with a dry-roasted finish. Medium body, soft carbonation and good balance. Thankfully not too sweet. Surprisingly enjoyable.

Faint roast and nut smell. Black with a red tint and a thin lacy somewhat lasting head. Slightly frothy medium thin body. Watery. Strong roast bitter start with a bland empy watery finish. Tastes nice but very thin.
