Cask; Regular.
A Best Bitter brewed in a traditional Sussex style using Maris Otter, Crystal and Chocolate malts with East Kent Golding hops. Typical of Dark Star ales, the Best Bitter relies on the heavy handed addition of aromatic hops late in the boil.

On cask at the Haymarket. Appearance - amber with a decent head. Nose - toffee and light biscuit. Taste - more of the same. The toffee becomes a bit too sweet after a point. Palate - close to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a fairly good finish though it could be fresher. Overall - solid if a bit too sweet.

Cask @ Cricketers Arms, Eastleigh. Dark golden body with a small film of off-white head. Aroma is mild malt, caramel and slightly floral. Flavor is medium sweet caramel malt, biscuit and medium bitter. Medium body and a bit short in aftertaste. Quite plain, but smooth and easy drinkable.

Handpull cask at the Prince Albert, Ely. Somewhat dark brown but translucent. Slightly off-putting sulphur tinge to the aroma, but itís moistened with a strong note of berries. Sweet and malty at first, drawing to a bitter finish. Bitter cooking chocolate on the aftertaste. Pretty good although not one of my favourites from Dark Star.
