2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Cask at The Orange Tree, Chelmsford. I have had some excellent Dark Star beers before, but Partridge is a long way from being their best. It was just rather bland and uninspiring.

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Draft at the Craft Beer Company, Clerkenwell. Poured a nice reddish brown with a glass hugging white head. The aroma is hugely caramel and very pleasurable. However the flavour was a little sour, watery and not particularly tasty. I would not order another.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Hand pulled at the Victoria, Birmingham. Brown bitter. Resolutely English. Native hops produce dryness, mushy orchard fruit and a smidge of preserve. Somewhat dry, slightly rich. Traditional but well executed. Good Bitter like this is very refreshing.
