On cask at the Haymarket. Appearance - amber with a decent head. Nose - toffee and light biscuit. Taste - more of the same. The toffee becomes a bit too sweet after a point. Palate - close to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a fairly good finish though it could be fresher. Overall - solid if a bit too sweet.

Hand pulled at the Victoria, Birmingham. Brown bitter. Resolutely English. Native hops produce dryness, mushy orchard fruit and a smidge of preserve. Somewhat dry, slightly rich. Traditional but well executed. Good Bitter like this is very refreshing.

UPDATED: MAY 25, 2014 Cask at the Bull, Battle. Dark brown, toffee and malt nose, bitter and burnt marmalade body. Re-rate at the eponymous Partridge, classic brown bitter with a bright hoppy nose, lovely nutty malt and a dry-bitter hoppy balance. Very sessionable.
