3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Can. Pours clear gold with a light haze and foamy head. Aroma is pretty malty, initial butterscotch, toffee malts, also hoppy with dried fruit and nut, orange. Light medium body, finish is balanced, lightly bitter. Will have to try again on cask, this can is not as good as it should be I think.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Cask at The Bishops’ Mill (JDW), Durham, £1.60/pint.
Pours a clear mid-amber with a thin, off-white head. The nose is light but still packs a tropical fruity punch. The taste is chock-full of fruity hops, with passion fruit, orange and even peach all detectable. There’s a real underlying dryness that becomes astringency on a long finish. It really tastes its full 5.7%. On the whole good flavours but a little too boozy.

Clear golden amber colour with a small thick white head. Aroma is tropical fruit, grassy hops, citrus and a touch of pine. Some lacing, toffee malty sweetness, some citrus and piney hoppy bitterness combine in a dry bitter finish.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Cask at the Hope Tap (JDW), Reading. Glowing crystal-clear amber with a thin white head. Tropical notes up front, a friendly warming caramel middle then pine in the mildly bitter finish. A little too much Cascade for my personal preference by the finish, but there’s no denying that this is a very tasty and well-balanced brew and well worthy of it’s high score on this site. Had it just after the very good and quite similar Hilden Mill Street, and this was just a little step ahead on all counts.
