Thanks to Finn for sharing a cask ale at The Old Fountain. Low white head with fine retention. Clear amber coloured body. Dried fruity aroma with mild malty sweetness. Malt accented taste with pine-like fruits beneath. Dry bitter endnotes. Well balanced and medium bodied. Likable (London, 05.11.2012).

Cask pour at Cask, Pimlico. Nice tawny pour, medium but firm carbonation. Nose is initially a bit overly sweet, both from heavy fruit and evident malt robustness. The beer feels and tastes much lighter and more balanced, though, with a citrus spritzer and dry herbal quality that integrates well with the other dimensions. Dry finish, a touch of spice among the herbal qualities but fragrant consistently. Pretty good, though not the best I had from Dark Star.

Cask @ Gallows Bird, Espoo. Kekri 2012.
Pours a clear golden colour with a white lacy head. Aroma of floral hops, grass and nettles. Flavour of strong floral hops, malts, nuts, citrus and some bread. Medium bodied, slick mouthfeel and soft carbonation. Finishes strong bitter and floral as well. Really well balanced. Enjoyable.

(Cask at Gallow’s Bird, 20121103) The beer poured golden and clear. Its head was white, small and long lasting. Aroma had fruitiness, grass and malts. Palate was medium bodied with low carbonation. Flavours were fruitiness, pine, malts and bitterness. Afteraste was hoppy and bitter. A surprisingly hoppy cask ale but also a good and well balanced one.

Oh ..... surprising. Some fruit and exciting taste sensation. Some real hops and bitterness. It does not taste as strong as it is, so could be dangerous.

Cask at Blackheart with Sarah. Pours a clear amber with a white head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma has note of earthy grass and pine hops with a hint of earthy bread underlying. Flavor begins with earthy grass and citrus with a backing earthy grain note.

Hops. That’s basically it. Fairly unidimensional. Sweet peach dominates. Does get better in the finish. Perhaps it’s lost touch with the fact that beer is a malt drink.
