Cask, 2nd session @ The London Drinker ’09. Hazy gold with a thin white head. Obvious Belgian yeast aroma with a nice citric note. Taste has the aforementioned attributes with more lemony hop than your average saison, the typical peppery bit and a touch of coriander. I can see what Ian and Tom mean about it not being spot on style wise, it did have the dryness, yeast and spice but had been been anglicized slightly. However, for a UK brewery attempt at a Belgian it was pretty close and quite tasty also.

Cask at the London Drinkers Festival. Alround rating: Wheaty, bubblegum, banana, lightly floral hop, small sulphurus notes too. A cask hefe more than a saison in my book.

Cask handpull at The Evening Star in Brighton. More of a wheat beer to me than a saison, cloudy gold/orange colour with lasting thin white hed. Very refreshing though. Bit of soap like a Belgian wit on the aroma. Reasonably fruity in mouth, tangerine/orange, touch of herb/spice. Good bit of tingle on the finish. Good intense fruit and spice. Very good wit, not sure it’s a saison.

Cask-conditioned at the Seven Stars, Bristol 18/03/09. Pale, slightly hazy gold in colour, with a billowy white head that left plenty of lacing. Peppery, spicy nose with a hint of tropical fruit and lemon and some dusty hops. Flavour was sweetish, with a grainy edge, some citrus dryness, coriander herbs and a decent bitter finish. From memory, a good effort at creating the style. Excellent.
