3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 wheresthepath (1294) - Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - APR 28, 2013
[Gift from Maureen (cheers!) from the Selsey off license] Light amber with a negligible white head and a moderate fizz. Tropical fruit aroma carries on into the flavor with spicy orange notes and a growing but well-balanced bitterness. Like many Dark Star beers I’ve tried, it’s decent but not world-beating - not quite up to their formidable reputation.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Theydon_Bois (3392) - The ’Sham, Surrey, ENGLAND - APR 6, 2013
Cask at the Southampton Arms, Gospel Oak, 30/03/13.
Clear golden amber with a medium sized off white head that reduces to a film.
Nose is caramel malt, hops, grapefruit, orange.
Taste comprises hops, sugars, orange, juicy grapedfruit, citrus notes.
Medium bodied with bite, moderate carbonation, hop bitterness in the finish.
Decent - so so much better than the 2nd rate bottled offering, if ever there was a beer to split and prove how good a well kept cask is when compared to the bottled version this would be my pick!

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Rune (6362) - Tromsø, NORWAY - MAR 28, 2013
330ml bottle bought at The MicroBar in Manchester last summer. Pours a clear copper coloured body joined by a good lacing, off-white, partially persisting head. Pleasant aroma of peaches, fresh apricots, and oranges mingled with caramel sweetness. Well hopped taste of mild grapefruits and peaches offset by mid-sweet malts. Rather sharp bittersweet finish. Medium bodied. A well blended ale, cleverly made (at home, Tromsø 27.03.2013).
