Cask at CBC Brixton. Pours a slightly hazy yellow gold with a white head. Light spice in the aroma with some trop fruitiness. Light body, mild carbonation. Cloves, all spice, pear, apple, grape, hint of pine, a little sappy. Quite juicy yet fairly dry. Nice. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Cask Pint at Wibbas Down (JDW), Wimbledon, London in Sept 2012 - Hazy Yellowy Gold in colour. Spicy; stem ginger & spices. Fruity; citrus orange and grapefruit. Malty; caramel. Hoppy; floral hops. Spicy fruity throughout, ending in a dry bitter finish. Not at all bad. Drinkable.

Aroma: has spicy nose, maybe some ginger, some fruity hops. Appearance: hazy gold, medium frothy head. Taste: medium sweets and bitterness. Palate: ginger, spices, getting quite intense. Overall: not your everyday beer, but certainly an interesting one! Pint at the Evening Star, Brighton.

Cask at the Harbour Inn, Kirkcaldy. Pours clear gold with a thick white head. Spicy nose of ginger biscuits, bit of citrus and grassiness. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Slightly dry finish, with the gingerness lingering at the end for a bit. Very nice.

Some hop bitterness in the finish, the spice and ginger is prevalent in the mouthful. Not that full-bodied though, not one of Dark Star’s better beers.

My Bottom Line:
Ginger and honeyed malts are well balanced in this quenching, dryish and nicely bitter summer ale.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam covers the clear blond.
-Malt personality is again lovely in this Dark Star brew.
-Spicy, herbal hops add complexity.
-Biscuity angles are found as well.
-This is expertly made, as can be expected from them, but it is not a stand out in their otherwise awesome lineup.

On cask at The Rake.

Cask at the Cock Tavern - Hackney, London. Pours clear gold with a soft, creamy white cap. Certainly some spices in here, and the ginger provides a gentle sting. Sweetness provided by light, biscuity pale malts. Also pleasant notes of lemony citrus and dry straw. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Good condition. Lightly dry to finish with mild spice, straw and more biscuits. Tasty golden ale.

Cask @ The Cock Tavern. Deep gold pour with a frothy white head. The nose is white grape, some peach. Summery fruit salad. Inviting, simple aromas. The taste is more peaches and apricot. Some honeyed grain. Light herbal hop finish. I can’t say I got any ginger in this. Light body, fine carbonation. Overall, solid.
