3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Mortlach (436) - Rome, ITALY - FEB 1, 2012
Brasserie 4:20 (cask). Corpo leggero, carbonazione corretta, freschissima e beverina. Ottima golden ale.

Gravity, Hinckley 2011, 16/09/11. Bullion gold without a head. Mildly juicy hop aroma of apricot and hay. Rich tea dunked in Darjeeling dominates the palate, which is soft, discreetly fruity, a little earthy and low in condition. Some red apple traces and almond. More a grey drizzly day in Hinckley than a Sunburst.

[cask at Cloisters, Edinburgh] Pours clear golden yellow with a decent white head. Thin aromas of sweetish malt and grassy, almost musty hop. Golden ales are never really about the nose, more the quenching drinkability – and this one has that in spades. Almost creamy mouthfeel, it’s increasingly grapefruity following the biscuit malt front end. Extremely drinkable golden ale – exactly what you want, really [24062011]
