COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Occasional - most recently as monthly special for May 2011.
A beer from a less well known mild tradition for strength with soft flavours and gentle hops. Mashed with 100% mild ale spring barley malt and then with Golding hops in the copper give the restrained bitterness.

{thoughts} Assertively malty and rich without cloying, though the floral finish feels too light and out of place in this setting.

{elements} Hazy, dark brown hue; firm, light tan froth. Toffee and dark bread malts with notes of chocolate, plums and licorice. Instant, firm, mouth-coating malt sweetness complemented by mildly acidic stone fruit flavors and ending with a soft bitterness and lingering floral and bready aftertaste. Creamy texture, low carbonation, medium body. 50 cl real ale @ OíConnellís.

Brown colour. Roasty malts, a little bit of coffee and caramel with a hint of vanilla. Hoppy and fruits. Low bitterness and dry finish.

Cask at the Grove Inn, Huddersfield. Dark copper/brown. Lasting foamy head. Light fruity aroma. Opens with thin malts, widens into smoky and earthy flavours, twiggy hops, dark fruits, phenolic notes. Does taste suitably old fashioned. Some flavours could be interpreted as off but I think itís all deliberate. Good mild.

Cask at the Cask, Pimlico, 16/06/14. Mahogany brown with reddish hues and moderate light tan edgework. Nose is malty, nutty, dark fruit rind, tobacco, light cocoa. Taste comprises fruit loaf, earthy rinse, more tobacco, dark fruit peel, faint tea leaves. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, semi drying close. Ok mild, plenty of flavour for the style but so it should at 6%!

Cask at the brewery tap, deep red-brown with a fine head, a little sweet malt on the nose, rich syrupy texture, with plum and coffee notes over caramel and dry hoppiness.

On cask at the Stockbridge Tap. Appearance - dark amber to chestnut with lovely red chinks. Nice creamy head - perfect. Nose - biscuits caramel and liquorice. Taste - chocolate caramel biscuits with a hint of spice. Palate - medium bodied with a creamy yet crunchy texture and a balanced dry finish. Overall - great stuff though Iíd say this was an ESB rather than a Mild

Cask at Tap East after velodrome session. Nice but brown / ruby red coloured pour with a lasting cream coloured head. Aroma is nice Moorish fruit and nuts, dried raisin, red berry, rum, little vanilla. Flavour is layered nutty, caramel, raisin, varnish. Little solvent on the tongue. Solid flavoursome mild. Palate is medium sweet, medium bodied with low to average cask condition. Enjoyable mild.
