taunusmies (221), Finland Apr 14, 2008 Real ale. Pours deep copper brown colour with a small, quickly vanishing head. Strong hoppy smell. Bitter, hoppy aroma with some malty sweetness. Notes of herbs, grass and spices. Should I mention ginger..
Mungo (2474), Southampton, Hampshire, England Dec 29, 2007 Cask conditioned @ Guide Dog, Soton. Copper. Malty fruit, citric hop and light caramel sweetness. Background gingery
flavour and heat which works surprisingly well (I’m not normally a fan of alcoholic ginger beers). Fairly sweet but not overly so with the tangy ginger and hop finish helping out slightly. Certainly better than the Summer Meltdown. downender (1434), Bristol, Gloucestershire, England Nov 16, 2007 On gravity at the Hillgrove Porter Stores, Bristol 2/11/07. Tried as part of the HPS’s beer festival, this was amber with a slight head. The aroma had some sweet malt and ginger. The flavour was well-balanced between malt and earthy ginger with a decent hoppy finish. Good. Magic_dave6 (3476), Glasgow, Scotland Nov 4, 2007 Cask in Blackfriers. Aroma is ginger with caramel, spicey and rich, but with dark stars normal use of american citrusy hop. Taste is the same with ginger as prominat as any other flavour. An intresting beer that finished in a matter of hours once it went on. omhper (10140), Stockholm, Sweden Mar 8, 2007 Updated: Mar 21, 2007Cask at Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Dark ruby. Aroma of cinnamon and ginger. Sweet and medium bodied rounded mouthfeel with evident ginger flavour. Initially the flavour is nicely balanced between malt and ginger, but eventually the ginger starts to stick to my tongue and throat, and creates an unpleasant burning sensation. Served in a nip glass it might work, but with this much burning ginger that’s about what I can take.
