Bottle:   Caramel in color, thin sudsy white head, sparce lacing.   Musty aroma, pale caramel.   Dry on the tongue, a little tart.   Better than I expected in that it seems somewhat Belgian.   Finishes a little grassy, a little mild caramel sweetness.   Only thing I will say is it could use some carbonation as its a little flat on the tongue.   Otherwise fairly good.   Its also warming, not alcoholic, but warming.   Thanks for the bottle Bill!

GABF 2011. Listed as "Pale Rider". Murky dark gold, no head. Aroma of floral and spicy hops with a funky barn yeast atop some toffee malt. Big yeasty dough flavors with spicy saaz hops. Pretty big bodied but the flavor is just imbalanced towards spicy herbal hops.

Thanks to SS for this one! Golden pour with a huge white head. Aroma is caramel, oranges, and peppery spice. Flavor is fat with the black pepper, plenty of belgian yeast notes being thrown off as well. Finish was dry with snappy carbonation.

A: The pour is excessively carbonated with a head that nearly fills the glass. The actual beer is a cloudy orange color. S: Initially the extreme carbonation overwhelms the nose and it sort of stings the nose. After some intense swirling to kill the carbonation a bit, I get a lot of nice fruity notes like pineapple and mango. There’s plenty of yeast in there as well as some bread and grassy hops. T: The flavor is really quite nice. Lots of pineapple, orange, and tangerine fruitiness to go along with a solid bready malt base. Floral and grassy hops provide a mild bitterness. There are some very subtle spice flavors and a good yeastiness. Perhaps a touch of alcohol as well. M: The body is medium with a very high carbonation, which I knew would be the case. D: This was a really surprising beer. I found it to be just great and really enjoyable. It would be nice if they dialed back the carbonation, but the flavor and nose were good.
