1. Cask Stillage at the Mill At The Pier, Wigan 09/03/2001 Sweet with a hint of ginger. 2. Cask Handpump at the Bar Fringe, Manchester 22/07/2005 Golden and hoppy. Some fruity bubble gum flavour. Some dryness in a crisp nutty malt finish.

Tasted this at the Paisley Beer Festival in April 2001. Cask, gravity dispense. Clear dark amber in colour with a thin buff head. Stunning aroma with burning peat hags and carmelised orange notes - wonderful stuff. Smooth oily mouthfeel and good lacing. Mixed malts give a robust maltloaf base with caramel, molasses and orange peel notes evident. Citric hops give a dry fruity aftertaste long in intensity. Malt returns in the toffee and orange oil finish. An excellent session bitter and well recommended.

A Mes rate: Cask at the Wenlock (I think). Fresh and hoppy all round with some grapefruit and a crisp and very bitter finish. Very dry but not in a bad way. Decent beer.

Cask@2006 Derby Winter Beer Festival. Dark amber beer with a light head. The aroma and flavour is lightly dry. Overall an OK lightly dry and slightly caramel beer.

Straight from the Cask at the Chesterfield Beer Festival on 04/02/05. Hazey light brown colour. Fresh tasting, hoppy & dry. Quite bitter in the aftertaste. Pretty avarage.
