Emil (6075), Copenhagen, Denmark Sep 28, 2005 Bottle. Golden colour with a medium off-white head. Malty, hay, hoppy aroma and a light sweet hoppy taste. Medium body and a light sweet finish. harrisoni (6704), Ashford, Kent, England Sep 1, 2005 Bottle from Asda. Copper colour with thin white head. Amarillo citric hop aroma with cream in mouth and touch of vanilla, orange peel and then good distinctive hop finish. Good attempt at an APA without it getting too sweet or too over the top scotty (828), Scotland Aug 29, 2005 Updated: Feb 26, 2009Damn! that’s a fine beer and no mistake!!! Softly malty, with a fantastic rounded hop character. The finish goes on for ages. This not only looks superb, with its clean gold body and the firm white head, but it tastes superb too! Asda Edinburgh. Scarborough (17), England Aug 29, 2005 The brewers term this beer an India Pale Ale. Given that this is a pale malt beer with a strength around 5.5% and a refreshing, but not excessive, helping of citric American hops, I would assume they mean an IPA in the style of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. Sadly though, unlike the Sierra Nevada, this is a filtered and gas injected beer. The carbonation is a trifle harsh and intrudes on the flavour. This is a shame as the beer itself is a subtle and flavoursome treat. The malt base is soft with gentle toffee notes, sweet wholemeal biscuit and a touch of fennel. The hops are gently yet playfully citric, with a zesty edge. The beer is best drunk as fresh as possible. The hops suffer if the beer is left - losing their zesty edge, and worse, if left longer, will take on a wet paper flavour. radiomgb (1921), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada Jul 29, 2005 Bottle. Golden-orange in colour, good head retention, beautiful lace. The aroma was earthy, very light caramel malts. woody, light floral hops and a touch of citrus. The flavour was floral, grassy, lemons and oranges. Soft mouthfeel, medium body, medium carbonation. Finishes quite smooth with a small dry bitterness coming in at the very end. Very nice. johndoughty (2150), cheslyn hay, West Midlands, England Jul 18, 2005 If you like your beers well hopped this is the one for you. They dominate a lovely beer with hints of citrus that linger.Found on the shelf of ASDA amongst rows of blandness. They should be congratulated on bringing such a fine beer to a wider public. muzzlehatch (4427), Burlington, Vermont, USA Jul 1, 2005 500 ml bottle shared at the Ratebeer Mondial gathering. Gorgeous light amber-gold, with a fine bubbly lasting head and some lovely lace...spicy Amarillo nose, smelly and juicy, a bit horsey and earthy with hints of spoiling lemons...soft, milky mouthfeel, farily sweet front becoming rather dry and bitter to finish...very smooth at the end despite the growing harshness. kook (2034), Perth, Western Australia, Australia Jun 29, 2005 Bottle: Dark gold with a lasting creamy white head. Fruity, tropical aroma with some mild grassy hops and spice in the background. Sweet fruity malts, balanced with a long bitter finish. Some citric grassy hops in the finish. Medium bodied. Nice session ale.
