tiggmtl (4307), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Jun 20, 2005 Sweet and spicy, medicinal, earthy, orange-blossom notes to the aroma. Clear orange-copper with a lasting cover of fine-bubbled white head that leaves some nice lace. Fruitiness is joined by a dry woody smokiness in the flavour. Medium body with soft carbonation. Bottle enjoyed at the Ratebeer Mondial Gathering 2005. ClarkVV (3578), Allston, Massachusetts, USA Jun 13, 2005 2005 bottle shared by Radiomgb at the Mondial Ratebeer tasting, 6/4/05. Golden copper, clear and lucid. White head recedes quickly to ring, with some lacing. Amarillo and manure in the nose, fruity yeast as well. Strong aroma from the amarillo hops, peaches, apples, oranges. . .Earthy, dusty yeast, some hay and plants. More fruit in the flavor, with the hops quite dominant. Retronasal has oranges and light leafy hops. Medium body, slightly oily mouthfeel, a bit resinous at times, with a low carbonation. Rastacouere (5551), Montréal, Quebec, Canada Jun 6, 2005 Clear strawish golden. Light white ring. Biscuity malts and wet hay come in a most mellow and perfumey way. Rainy day soil that has been dried for month, makes me think of rain in a desert. Extremely clean flavours, fresh, tea-cookies maltiness. Dry grassy, lemony amarillos. Soft carbonation, mellow palate, medium bodied. Nice pint I assume. Thanks Jeff. MartinT (5026), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Jun 6, 2005 The Lure: Piney and citrusy hops walk out of the bottle to cuddle. A muddy ground creates a pillowy perfume.
The Festivities: An ubersoft mouthfeel offers piney earth covered in peaches, oranges and scant grapefruit. Dry wood lies nearby in a competent malt body. Although most flavors are from the hops and yeast, this is never too overwhelming and always pleasant.
Transcendence: Driving windows open into the forest. CampbellWilson (533), Scotland Apr 25, 2005 Bottle from Asda, Toryglen, Glasgow (not all asdas in Scotland carry this). God its good stuff. Golden copper colour. Huge aroma of american style hops, with citrus and peach notes. Good mouthfeel and condition. Long bitter complex hoppy finish. As we can’t get many good american beers over here Asda should make a point of continuing this - its nearly always sold out. GarethYoung (1110), Glasgow, Scotland Apr 22, 2005 Updated: May 20, 2005slightly citrus hoppy nose. lively mouthfeel. bitter hopped finish. good stuff. NEBS (7), Sunderland, England does not count Apr 22, 2005 Certainly not as bitter as normal IPA’s but a classic in the making. The rich aroma leads into a smooth hoppy mouthfeel with hints of malt. Thankfully the heavy bitterness that often spoils this style of beer is missing and the beer remains first class throughout.
